Intended purpose
Compression therapy involves measures to apply extensive,
external pressure to treat vein problems and lymph drainage
disorders. The aim of the extensive pressure is to prevent
the formation of oedema and to support venous return and
lymph drainage. Compression garments exert an optimal
pressure gradient that gradually decreases from bottom to top.
Compression therapy is primarily used to treat vein problems
and oedema. It involves the use of compressive and elastic
double-stretch fabrics or knitted fabrics that wrap right round
the extremities. As a general rule, compression therapy is a
long-term treatment requiring appropriate products that are
used by the patients themselves when medically indicated and
on the instructions of a doctor.
Notes for use
For compression stockings/tights with open toes, use the
Juzo Slippie donning aid. Your specialist retailer will be happy
to show you the correct way to use the product. You can also
visit www.juzo.com/donning for video instructions relating
to all Juzo donning aids. Put on your compression garment in
the morning straight after getting up. Put on and put of your
compression garment while sitting down to prevent injuries
or falling. Rough, unfiled finger nails or sharp-edged rings
etc. may damage the very fine knitted fabric. We therefore
recommend the use of Juzo special gloves. Toe nails and
calluses can also cause damage, as can the defective inner
lining of shoes.
Compression stockings
1. Pull the stocking over your forearm and hold on to the foot
section from the inside with your fingers. Turn the stocking
inside out by pulling it out as far as the heel.
2. Using both hands, stretch open the opening and pull the
foot section over your foot as far as the instep. Make sure
that the heel fabric is sitting on the heel.
3. Gradually pull the stocking further over your foot – as you
do so, you will also turn it back the right way out.
4. Now pull up the stocking evenly and free from any wrinkles
– without twisting it or pulling at the edges – and at the
same time apply it to your leg with the flat of your hand.
If you have pulled the stocking up too high, simply push it
back down to the ankle and then pull it up again with less
strength. Tip: fold over the silicone border before donning
(if applicable).
Compression tights
5. Turn inside out as far as the heel, slip in the first leg as
described in steps 2 and 3 and fit to below the knee.
6. Repeat the procedure with your other leg.
7. Once you have put the tights on both legs to below the
knees, turn both sides the right way out again and pull them
up both legs bit by bit. Then adjust the sit of the knitted
fabric with the flat of your hand.
8. Now pull the body part up to your waist. Make sure that
the gusset is positioned vertically in the crotch. Please
bear in mind that your compression tights must never be
overstretched. Distribute the knitted fabric in stages from
the bottom to the top.
Please note:
Only wear compression garments if they have been prescribed
by a doctor. Compression garments should only be dispensed
by properly trained sta at a medical retailer. Your Juzo com-
pression garments are largely resistant to oils, ointments, skin
moisture and other environmental influences. The durability of
the knitted fabric may be aected by certain combinations of
the above. This is why it is advisable to have your compression
garments checked regularly at a medical retailer. For stockings
with a silicone border, please note that legs should be
depilated and free from oils, powder, creams and ointments.
Please contact your specialist retailer in the event of damage.
Do not repair the product yourself – this may aect its quality
and medical eectiveness. For hygiene reasons, this product is
intended for one person only.
Washing and care instructions
Please note the care instructions on the textile label sewn into
your compression garment or the printed information. Do up
any fasteners (if there are any) before washing! We recommend
turning compression garments inside out before washing.
Wash compression garments separately when washing for the
first time (they may lose colour). If possible, your compression
garments should be washed every day on a gentle or delicate
wash cycle (40°C). Tip: a laundry net provides additional
protection for the knitted fabric. Please do not use fabric
softener! When hand washing, rinse well and do not wring.
We recommend the gentle Juzo special detergent. You can
reduce drying time by placing the compression garment on a
thick towel after washing, tightly rolling the towel up and firmly
pressing out excess moisture. Then hang up the compression
garment loosely. Do not leave the product in the towel and do
not dry it on a radiator or in the sun. Please use the delicates
setting when drying in a tumble dryer (suitable for tumble-dry-
ing: see textile label or printed information on the fabric). Juzo
compression garments are not suitable for dry cleaning.
Material composition
For precise details, please see the textile label sewn into your
compression garment or the printed information on the fabric.
Storage information and shelf life
Store in a dry place and protect from sunlight. Standard prod-
ucts have a maximum shelf life of 36 months. The compression
garment then has a usage period of 6 months. The usage
period depends on correct handling (e.g. care, donning and
dong) and normal use of the products. The usage period of
the medical product is printed on the box with an hourglass
symbol. Custom-made products are for immediate use. Body
measurements may change based on the patient’s condition
and individual circumstances. Custom-made products are
therefore designed for a usage period of 6 months. After
the 6-month usage period, body measurements must be
re-checked by a medical specialist. In the event of significant
changes in measurements of the body part that is being
treated (e.g. based on therapeutic success, weight change),
re-measurement and supply of a new product may be required
earlier, before the 6-month usage period comes to an end.
