If your JVC LCD TV screen is mostly black, the Closed Caption Text mode may be turned on. Turn it off in the Closed Caption Menu.

Why is the picture cut off in 1080p on my JVC LCD TV?
If the picture is slightly cut off when you're using the 1080p format on your JVC LCD TV, change the picture format setting on your external device to 1080i or another resolution.
Why doesn't my HDMI device work with my JVC LT-42P789?
This JVC television can accept a variety of HD signals, including 720/60p, 1080/60i and 1080/60p. It does not accept a 1080/24p signal. Please refer to your Blu-ray/HD-DVD manual for complete details on choosing the correct output.
