Overview

The K-Line® KL30230 Revolving Engine Stand is a manually operated engine stand designed for supporting, rotating, and lifting engines to facilitate service. It is intended for use by qualified personnel familiar with engine lifting and service, safe lifting practices, and the dangers involved in manipulating and servicing engines.

Function Description:

The primary function of the KL30230 Revolving Engine Stand is to provide a stable platform for holding an engine during service, allowing for ergonomic positioning through rotation and providing swing clearance for rotation via lifting.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Rated Capacity: 2722 kg (6,000 lb)
  • Rotation Capability: Full 360°
  • Maximum Output Torque Rating: 1356 N-m (12,000 in.-lbs.)
  • Stand Weight (including supplied adapter plates): Approximately 400 kg (882 lb)
  • Lifting Stroke at Mounting Hub Surface: 305 mm (12")
  • Angle of Mounting Hub Surface: Level to 35° inclined
  • Center of Gravity: Must be within 50.8 mm (2") in all directions of the stand's axis.
  • Dimensions:
    • Overall Length: 1520 mm
    • Overall Height: 1223 mm
    • Overall Width: 1219 mm
  • Environmental Requirements:
    • Temperature: -23°C to 93°C (-10°F to 200°F)
    • Humidity: Usable in any humidity condition.
    • Wind Effects: Wind gusts in the work area must be below 32 kph (20 mph) to avoid loss of stability.
  • Emissions: Noise under 56 dB.

Usage Features:

  • Setup:
    1. Ensure the engine's weight is within the stand's capacity.
    2. Select an appropriate engine adapter, ensuring the engine's center of mass remains within 50.8 mm (2") of the stand's axis.
    3. Torque socket head cap screws attaching the adapter to the stand to 135 N-m (100 ft-lb).
    4. Use manufacturer's recommended lifting points and a suitable hoist to lift the engine.
    5. Mount the engine to the stand using the selected adapter, ensuring all adapter bolts are tightened to required torque values.
    6. Slowly set the engine's weight onto the stand.
    7. Remove lifting devices from the engine.
  • Rotation:
    1. Ensure all workers and tools are clear of the engine.
    2. Firmly grasp the crank handle and slide the lock collar to unlock it. A magnet in the collar will retain it in the unlocked position.
    3. Rotate the crank handle to position the engine as desired.
    4. Once rotation is complete, turn the handle to align the lock collar's pins with the holes in the frame, then slide the lock collar to lock the handle.
  • Lifting/Lowering:
    1. To lift, tighten the jack release valve (hand tight) and use the provided handle to pump the jack to the desired height.
    2. To lower, carefully open the jack release valve to achieve the desired height, then re-tighten the jack release valve.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Read and understand the entire manual before operation.
    • Wear protective glasses or a face shield meeting ANSI Z87+ Standards.
    • Inspect equipment before each use for damage; discontinue use if damaged.
    • Be aware of crushing and pinch point hazards due to the stand's weight and moving parts.
    • Clean up all spilled fluids immediately to prevent fire/smoking hazards and slips/falls.
    • Do not leave tools or components around the work area.
    • Use the stand only on a flat, dry, level, and hard surface.
    • Do not work beneath any supported load.
    • Do not modify the stand (e.g., welding, heating, drilling).
    • Do not exceed the Working Load Limit (WLL) of any component.
    • Do not use on unstable surfaces or aboard a vessel/vehicle.
    • Keep all body members clear of the engine and stand during use.
    • Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.
    • Exercise extreme caution during engine mounting.
    • Check engine mounting before use.
  • Emergency Instructions:
    • In case of fire, use a class ABC dry chemical or class BC CO2 fire extinguisher. DO NOT USE WATER.

    • Bushings: Lubricate with ISO VG 100 (SAE 30 wt.) non-detergent oil every 6 months (occasional use) or every 2 months (heavy use).
    • Hydraulic Jack: Check oil level monthly. Lower the jack piston, remove the filler plug, and ensure oil is just below the filler hole. Fill with good quality hydraulic oil as needed.
  • Storage Requirements:
    • Store upright in a cool, dry location.
    • For storage longer than 3 months, clean and wipe unpainted surfaces with light oil to prevent corrosion.
    • Remove the gear cover and coat mating surfaces of the worm and gear with molybdenum disulfide grease, avoiding contamination of bushings. Replace the gear cover.
    • After long-term storage, re-oil all bushings with ISO VG 100 (SAE 30 wt.) non-detergent oil. Remove the gear cover, wipe off dirty/excess grease, reapply grease as needed, and replace the gear cover.
