The Kam LED Partybar V2 is a versatile lighting system designed for creating superb color wash effects, suitable for both stand and floor-mount applications. This comprehensive kit includes four fully positional par cans, a lighting stand, a footswitch controller, and rig bags for convenient transport and setup. The lights themselves are compact, slimline, and low-profile, making them easy to integrate into various event setups.
Function Description
The LED Partybar V2 offers five distinct working modes, providing flexibility for different control preferences and lighting scenarios:
- Auto Mode: This mode features built-in programs that operate automatically without the need for external control from the foot pedal. There are 12 internal auto programs (AP01-AP12), and the user can also select an "ALL" option to run all 12 programs constantly. Within auto mode, the running speed of the programs can be adjusted.
- Manual Mode: In manual mode, users have direct control over the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color mix and strobe speed. The display shows options for adjusting the intensity of red (r-00 to r-08), green (g-00 to g-08), and blue (b-00 to b-08), where '00' is off and '08' is the brightest. Strobe speed can also be set from F-00 (static) to F-08 (fast strobe).
- Audio Mode (Sound Activated): This mode utilizes automatic built-in programs that are activated by sound. The unit responds to audio input, and users can adjust the audio sensitivity using a control knob on the rear panel. There are four sensitivity modes (SP00-SP03) that can be increased or decreased.
- DMX512 Mode: For professional control, the unit can be operated via a DMX512 controller. In this mode, the unit receives DMX data, allowing for precise control over various lighting parameters. The DMX address can be set from A.001 to A.512. The DMX channels offer control over RGB color adjustment, internal program running (1-12), audio mode options, dimmer (0-100%), strobe speed/chase speed, and individual brightness for red, green, and blue LEDs across four different sets of LEDs (first, second, third, and fourth).
- Foot Switch Mode: This mode provides convenient control using a two-pedal footswitch. The left pedal functions as a blackout/on switch, allowing users to instantly turn off all par cans and then return to the previous state. The right pedal (programs) allows users to step through the built-in auto programs (AP01-AP12 and ALL) and also cycle through various color modes (R->G->B->RG->GB->RB->RGB).
- Ob-3 Mode: This specific mode allows for control of the unit using just three DMX channels (RGB). It is designed for basic 3-channel DMX controllers and provides control over the RGB output of all par cans simultaneously. Individual control of each can or access to built-in programs is not available in this mode.
Usage Features
The LED Partybar V2 is designed for ease of use and versatility. The control functions are accessed via a built-in control menu with MENU, UP, DOWN, and ENTER buttons. Users select the desired mode and confirm with ENTER. The product also features a memory function, meaning that after an initial selection, the unit will power on in the mode it was previously set to.
For multi-unit setups, the Partybar V2 supports both DMX controller operation and stand-alone master/slave configurations.
- Stand-alone Master/Slave: To connect several units without a DMX controller, one unit is designated as the master, and the others as slaves. The master unit is set to the desired mode (auto, sound, manual RGB), and all slave units are set to A001. The slave units will then follow the controls from the master unit. The footswitch can be connected to the master unit to control all attached units.
- DMX Controller Usage: Each unit utilizes 15 DMX channels. For simultaneous control of all units, their DMX start address should be set to the same value (e.g., A001). For individual control, each unit must have its own DMX start address, with at least 15 channels separating each address to prevent overlap (e.g., unit 1 to A001, unit 2 to A016).
The adjustable lighting stand allows for flexible positioning, and the fully positional par cans enable users to direct light precisely where needed. The built-in auto and sound-activated programs offer dynamic lighting effects without complex programming.
Maintenance Features
The manual emphasizes several key maintenance and safety guidelines to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the LED Partybar V2:
- General Safety: Users are advised to read the operating instructions carefully and retain them for future reference. The unit should not be exposed to rain, moisture, or naked flame sources. It should be unplugged during lightning storms or when not in use for extended periods.
- Ventilation: Adequate space around the unit is required for ventilation to prevent overheating. Slots and openings should not be blocked or covered.
- Power Cable Handling: Always handle the power cable by the plug and never pull on the cable itself. Avoid touching the power cable with wet hands. The cable should not be knotted and should be placed where it won't be stepped on. Regular inspection of the power cord is recommended, and a damaged cable should be replaced immediately by contacting the retailer.
- Power Supply Voltage: Ensure that the power supply voltage of the area matches the unit's requirements.
- Internal Servicing: The unit should not be opened by the user, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside. All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel to prevent the risk of electric shock.
- Installation Location: Choose an installation location carefully, avoiding direct sunlight, excessive vibration, dust, and extreme temperatures (below 5°C or above 35°C).
- Unpacking and Damage Inspection: Upon unpacking, the product should be checked for any transit damage. If damage is found, the unit should not be operated, and the retailer should be contacted immediately.
- Cleaning: Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply when performing any servicing or cleaning.
- Serial Number: The serial number, located on the rear or underside of the unit, should be noted and kept for warranty purposes.
- Environmental Disposal: If the product becomes non-functional, it should be taken to a recycling plant for environmentally friendly disposal.
The manual also includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as no output, dimmed LEDs, or no DMX input. This section provides a checklist of potential problems and corresponding solutions, such as checking power connections, ambient temperature, DMX cable polarity, and ensuring correct DMX mode or master/slave settings.
