Overview

The Kärcher PS 40 Power Scrubber is an attachment designed to enhance the cleaning capabilities of Kärcher high-pressure cleaners. It is suitable for use with Kärcher high-pressure cleaners manufactured from 1992 onwards, supporting pressures up to 18 MPa (180 bar / 2300 psi). This device is intended for private household use and not for commercial applications.

Function Description

The PS 40 Power Scrubber is designed for effective high-pressure cleaning and scrubbing of various surfaces. It is particularly well-suited for outdoor areas such as stairs and smooth floor surfaces, including wooden or stone floors, clinker, tiles, and concrete. It can also be used for floor surfaces indoors where water discharge is possible, such as washrooms or garages. The device combines the scrubbing action of brushes with the powerful cleaning force of a high-pressure water jet.

Technical Specifications

  • Compatibility: Kärcher high-pressure cleaners (from year of manufacture 1992).
  • Maximum Pressure: 18 MPa (180 bar / 2300 psi).
  • Maximum Water Temperature: 60 °C (refer to high-pressure cleaner instructions for specific limits).
  • Components (as per Illustration 1):
    1. PS 40 Power Scrubber
    2. Pull-off lip
    3. Extension tube
    4. Extension tube with safety sleeve/handle

Usage Features

Attaching the Extension Tubes:

To use the PS 40, it must be securely attached to the high-pressure gun via extension pipes.

  1. Step 1 (Illustration 2): Screw extension pipe (3) completely onto the threads of the PS 40.
  2. Step 2 (Illustration 2): Connect extension pipe (4) to extension pipe (3).
  3. Step 3 (Illustration 3): Press extension pipe (4) into the bayonet catch of the high-pressure gun.
  4. Step 4 (Illustration 3): Turn the extension pipe by 90° until it locks into place.
  5. Step 5 (Illustration 3): Firmly turn the safety sleeve onto the high-pressure gun.
    • Note: In an unpressurized state, the extension tube can be aligned with the PS 40. Once pressurized, the extension tube becomes fixed.

Cleaning Floor Surfaces:

  1. Placement (Illustration 4): Place the PS 40 onto the surface to be cleaned.
  2. Operation (Illustration 4): Switch on the high-pressure cleaner and pull the lever of the high-pressure gun to activate the water jet and scrubbing action.
  3. Drying (Illustration 5): For wet, smooth surfaces, the built-in pull-off lip can be used to dry the area after cleaning.

Safety Instructions:

  • Always observe the safety instructions provided with your high-pressure cleaner.
  • Only trigger the high-pressure jet when the PS 40 is positioned on the surface to be cleaned.
  • Ensure no persons are in the immediate vicinity of the cleaning head during operation.
  • Be aware of the recoil force; maintain a stable position and firmly hold the high-pressure gun with the extension tube.
  • Switch off the high-pressure cleaner upon completion of cleaning. If using the PS 40, disconnect it from the high-pressure gun.
  • Adhere to the maximum water temperature of 60 °C, consulting your high-pressure cleaner's instructions for specific limits.

Troubleshooting (High-pressure cleaner does not build up pressure or is vibrating):

If the high-pressure cleaner experiences issues such as not building up pressure or vibrating, check the built-in high-pressure nozzles and filters of the PS 40.

  1. Removal (Illustration 6): Remove the high-pressure nozzles and filters. First, remove the clip, then pull out the high-pressure nozzle and filter.
  2. Cleaning: Clean the filters and high-pressure nozzles under running water.
  3. Rinsing: Rinse the PS 40 with clear water.
  4. Reinstallation (Illustration 7): Reinstall the high-pressure nozzles and filters. Insert the high-pressure nozzles with the filter, then reinsert the clip.
