This document is a user manual for KARDA ducted and ductless mini-split remote controls, covering various indoor air handler models. It provides detailed instructions on how to operate the remote control, understand its display indicators, and utilize its various functions for different air conditioning modes.
The remote control is designed to operate KARDA's 1PAMSHH & 2PAMSHH (Hyper Heat High Wall), 2PAMSH (High Wall), 2PAMSCH (Cassette), and 2PAMSDH (Ducted) indoor air handler models. It serves as the primary interface for users to manage their air conditioning units.
Function Description:
The remote control allows users to:
- Turn the air conditioner ON and OFF: Using the dedicated ON/OFF button.
- Select operating modes: Users can cycle through AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, and FAN modes using the MODE button.
- Adjust fan speed: The FAN button allows selection of AUTO, LOW, MED, or HIGH fan speeds. Note that fan speed cannot be controlled in AUTO or DRY modes.
- Set desired temperature: UP and DOWN arrow buttons increase or decrease the temperature setting in 1°F increments. The temperature range is typically between 62°F and 86°F. Temperature control is not available in FAN mode.
- Activate/Deactivate SLEEP function: This function maintains a comfortable temperature and saves energy, available in COOL, HEAT, or AUTO modes. Pressing MODE, FAN SPEED, or ON/OFF during SLEEP mode will cancel it.
- Activate/Deactivate TURBO function: This function allows the unit to reach the preset temperature for cooling or heating in the shortest time.
- Activate/Deactivate SELF CLEAN function: This mode automatically cleans and dries the evaporator to maintain freshness.
- Activate/Deactivate SILENCE/FP function: Pressing the SILENCE/FP button for more than 2 seconds activates the FP (Freeze Protection) function. Pressing it again for 2 seconds disables FP. When Silence function is active, the compressor operates at low frequency, and the indoor unit blows a faint breeze, reducing noise. FP function is only available during heating operation (HEAT mode) and sets the unit to operate at 46°F, displaying 'FP' on the indoor unit.
- Set TIMER ON/OFF: These buttons allow users to program the unit to turn on or off automatically at a specified time. Each press increases the auto-time setting by 30-minute increments up to 10 hours, then by 60-minute increments up to 24 hours. Setting the time to 0.0 cancels the program.
- Control louver movement: The SWING button stops or starts the horizontal louver auto-swing feature. The DIRECT button changes louver movement and sets the desired up/down airflow direction, adjusting the angle by 6° with each press.
- Activate/Deactivate FOLLOW ME function: This feature allows the remote control to display the actual temperature at its location and send this signal to the air conditioner at 3-minute intervals. The air conditioner will cancel this feature if no signal is received for 7 minutes.
- Control indoor screen display: The LED button disables or activates the indoor unit's screen display.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model Compatibility: Hyper Heat High Wall Ductless Mini-Split Units 1PAMSHH Series (Single-Zone), High Wall Ductless Mini-Split Units 2PAMSH Series (Single-Zone & Multi-Zone), Cassette Indoor Units 2PAMSCH Series (Multi-Zone), Ducted Indoor Units 2PAMSDH Series (Multi-Zone).
- Rated Voltage: 3.0V (requires 2 AAA Dry batteries, R03/LR03 x 2).
- Signal Receiving Range: 26 ft (8m).
- Operating Environment: 23°F to 140°F (-5°C to 60°C).
- Temperature Display: Can be toggled between °F and °C by pressing and holding the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
Usage Features:
- LCD Indicators: The remote control's LCD displays various indicators such as ON/OFF status, AUTO/SET TEMP, ECO mode (not available for this unit), COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN mode, fan speed (Low, Medium, High, Auto), battery status (low battery detection), data transmission, SLEEP mode, FOLLOW ME mode, TIMER ON/OFF settings, and set/room temperature.
- Timer Operations:
- TIMER ON (Auto-on Operation): Useful for starting the air conditioner automatically before returning home. The remote displays "TIMER ON" and "H" during setup.
- TIMER OFF (Auto-off Operation): Useful for stopping the air conditioner automatically after going to bed. The remote displays "TIMER OFF" and "H" during setup.
- Combined Timer (Setting both ON and OFF timers simultaneously): Allows for complex scheduling, such as stopping the unit after going to bed and starting it again before waking up or returning home. Examples include TIMER OFF → TIMER ON (On → Stop → Start operation) and TIMER ON → TIMER OFF (Off → Start → Stop operation).
- Remote Control Placement: For optimal performance, the remote control should be used within 26 ft (8m) of the indoor unit and pointed towards its receiver. Reception is confirmed by a beep.
- Remote Control Holder (Optional): The remote control can be attached to a wall or pillar using a separately purchased holder. It's recommended to check signal reception before permanent installation.
Maintenance Features:
- Battery Replacement: The remote control is powered by two AAA batteries. Batteries should be replaced when the receiving beep is not emitted or the indicator fades. Old and new batteries, or different types, should not be mixed. Batteries should be removed if the remote control will not be used for 2 or 3 months. Used batteries should be disposed of properly as unsorted municipal waste.
- Self Clean Function: The SELF CLEAN button activates a mode where the air conditioner automatically cleans and dries its evaporator, helping to maintain the unit's freshness and efficiency.
- General Cautions:
- Avoid blocking signals from the remote to the indoor unit with curtains, doors, or other materials.
- Prevent liquids from coming into contact with the remote control.
- Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight or heat.
- Ensure the indoor unit's infrared signal receiver is not exposed to direct sunlight, as this can impair function.
- If other electrical appliances interfere with the remote control, move them or consult a service technician.
- Handle the remote control with care; do not drop it or place heavy objects on it.
The manual emphasizes that button design and available functions may vary slightly based on the specific model purchased. In cases of discrepancies between the remote control manual and the indoor/outdoor user manual, the latter's descriptions shall prevail. The device complies with FCC Rules and Canadian regulations regarding harmful interference.
