④ Mount the footrests on the wheelchair and ensure they’re engaged
properly.
⑤ Flip the footplates down (Figure 12.3).
12.7.2 Folding the wheelchair
① Flip up the footplates. (Figure 12.4).
② Press the release lever of swing-away footrests outwards and detach
them. Then lift the footrest off its mounting bracket.
③ Pull up on the seat upholstery by holding it in the center of its front and
back edge (Figure 12.5).
④ Fold the backrest backwards, if your wheelchair is fitted with a fold-down
backrest (Figure 12.6).
When pressing down the seat frame in step 2, never put your fingers
around the seat edge or under the chair as they can be trapped between
the seat and the frame.
