Switching device on and off
• To turn the device on: press the CALL button for 1
second, all the LEDs will flash rapidly. The device can
also be turned on automatically by placing it in the
docking station.
• To turn the device off: press and hold the side button
and SOS button together for 3 seconds until the LEDs
turn off.
Silent mode
• Double-click the silent mode button to turn off
voice warnings; double-click once more to turn
voice warnings on.
Getting a GPS fix
• To get an initial location for the GPS features, go
outdoors or stand near a window so the device
can get a fix on the satellites. This could take few
minutes, depending on your environment.
Insert the SIM card
The SIM card is not included in the package.
A Nano SIM card is available from the user’s local operator.
• Unscrew the back cover and remove.
• Insert the SIM card and make sure it’s activated and in
credits.
• Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
Before installing the SIM card, check if the SIM card has
a PIN code or not, if yes, please use a mobile phone to
remove the card’s PIN code.
Charging base
• Place the device on the charging base.
• Connect the USB cable from the charging base to the
AC adaptor.
The charging base light will glow when charging and turn
solid when fully charged.
When using the device for the first time, please fully charge
the battery for around 2~3 hours.
When the battery level falls below 20% it will send a low
battery warning message to recipients on the contact list
via text message or phone call.

The KATEK EV-04 is a personal mobile alarm system designed to provide security and peace of mind. This device is equipped with LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, and BLE connectivity, ensuring reliable communication and location tracking. Its compact and portable design makes it suitable for everyday use, allowing users to carry it comfortably.

Function Description

The primary function of the EV-04 is to enable users to call for help in emergency situations. This is achieved through an SOS alarm system that, when activated, sends "help me!" text messages to pre-programmed emergency contacts and then initiates outgoing calls. The device also supports making regular phone calls to a defined number and features a silent mode to manage voice warnings. GPS capabilities allow for location tracking, which is crucial during emergencies. The device is powered by a rechargeable battery, and its status is indicated by various LED lights.

Usage Features

Getting Started:

To begin using the EV-04, a Nano SIM card must be inserted. It's important to ensure the SIM card is activated and has sufficient credits. Before insertion, users should check if the SIM card has a PIN code and remove it using a mobile phone if necessary. The SIM card is inserted by unscrewing the back cover, placing the card, and then reattaching the cover.

Charging:

For initial use, the device's battery should be fully charged for approximately 2-3 hours. The EV-04 comes with a charging base. To charge, simply place the device on the charging base and connect the USB cable from the base to an AC adapter. The charging base light will glow during charging and turn solid when fully charged. The device will send a low battery warning message to recipients via text or phone call when the battery level falls below 20%.

Turning On/Off:

To turn the device on, press the CALL button for 1 second. All LEDs will flash rapidly, indicating it's powering up. The device can also be turned on automatically by placing it in the docking station. To turn the device off, press and hold both the side button and the SOS button together for 3 seconds until all LEDs turn off.

Activating an SOS Alarm:

In an emergency, press and hold the SOS button for 3-4 seconds until a voice prompt confirms the SOS alarm. This initiates a sequence: first, "help me!" text messages are sent to emergency contacts, followed by outgoing calls. If the device fails to connect to the first number, it will automatically call the second number after a 10-second delay, and so on for up to three numbers. During the 10-second delay between calls, users can stop the call sequence or prevent a false alarm by pressing the SOS button. It is crucial to program emergency contact numbers, with a minimum of one required.

Making a Phone Call:

To make a regular phone call, press and hold the CALL button for 3 seconds. A beep will confirm the action, and the device will dial the pre-defined number. To end the call, press the SOS button. During a call, the side buttons (+/-) can be used to adjust the sound volume.

Silent Mode:

The device features a silent mode. Double-click the silent mode button to turn off voice warnings. Double-click it again to turn voice warnings back on.

Getting a GPS Fix:

For the GPS features to work effectively, the device needs to acquire a GPS fix. This is best done outdoors or near a window. Obtaining a fix may take a few minutes, depending on the environment.

LED Indicators:

The EV-04 uses various LED lights to communicate its status:

• Cellular Signal Indicator (Green): A single rapid flash every 3 seconds indicates a stable cellular signal. A double rapid flash every 3 seconds means the device is registered to the cellular network.
• Positioning Indicator (Blue): A single rapid flash every 3 seconds indicates the device has no latest location fix. A double rapid flash every 3 seconds means the device has a latest location fix. If the light is off, the device is not fixing the latest location.
• Power Indicator (Red): A solid red light indicates the device is fully charged. A double rapid flash every 3 seconds means BLE is connected. A quickly blinking light indicates the battery power is lower than 20%. A light off or slowly blinking light means the device is charging.

Maintenance Features

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the KATEK EV-04, users should adhere to the following maintenance guidelines:

• Environmental Care: Avoid using or storing the unit in dusty places or environments with extreme temperatures. These conditions can damage the device's internal components and affect its functionality.
• Cleaning: Clean the unit with a dry cloth. Do not use chemicals or detergents, as these can cause damage to the device's surface or internal parts.
• Handling: Do not disassemble or refit the unit. Unauthorized modifications can void warranties and potentially damage the device.
• Battery Use: Always use the correct batteries. Using incompatible or wrong batteries can lead to device malfunction or damage.
• Pacemaker Safety: Maintain a distance of at least 25cm between the device and a pacemaker to prevent any potential interference.
• Privacy and Security: Keep the device's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) and SIM card information confidential to maintain personal privacy and security.
