Why won't my Kenmore 501-40002 start or spin?
    • K
      Kristy DanielsAug 12, 2025
If your Kenmore Washer won't start, ensure the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet. Also, check your house fuse or circuit breaker and reset it if necessary. Make sure the water supply tap is turned on. Finally, ensure the door is firmly shut; you may need to press the Start/Pause button and wait a few moments for the door to lock before the washer begins to spin.

Why is my Kenmore 501-40002 leaking, not filling, or not draining properly?
    • M
      mark99Aug 16, 2025
If you're experiencing water leaks from your Kenmore Washer, start by checking and tightening the fill hose connections at both the tap and the washer. If water isn't entering the washer or is entering slowly, ensure the water supply tap is fully open and the inlet hose isn't bent. Also, inspect the filter of the inlet hose for clogs. If water isn't draining or is draining slowly, check for clogs in your house drain pipes (contact a plumber if needed), and inspect the drain hose for bends or clogs. Also, clean the drain filter. Avoid using too much detergent or switch to HE (High Efficiency) detergent if excessive suds are present. Inadequate water supply in your area can also cause issues, check another tap in the house.

    • J
      janet52Aug 20, 2025
Once your Kenmore Washer has started, the door cannot be opened for safety reasons. Wait one or two minutes before attempting to open the door to allow the electric locking mechanism time to release.

How to stop rattling and clanking noises in my Kenmore Washer?
    • M
      Madeline CampbellAug 25, 2025
If your Kenmore Washer is making rattling, clanking, thumping, or vibrating noises, first stop the washer and check the drum and drain filter for foreign objects like coins or safety pins. If you have heavy wash loads, a thumping sound is normal, but if it continues after restarting, call for service. Ensure all transit bolts and packing have been removed according to the Installation Instructions. An unevenly distributed wash load can also cause noise, so stop the washer and rearrange the load. Finally, adjust the leveling feet to ensure all four feet are firmly on the ground, especially during the spin cycle.

Why is the wash cycle time delayed on my Kenmore 501-40002?
    • C
      Catherine LeAug 31, 2025
If the wash cycle time on your Kenmore Washer is delayed, it could be due to the amount of laundry, water pressure, water temperature, or other usage conditions. The wash time will increase if an imbalance is detected or if the suds removing program operates.
