The Kid Trax 6V 4x4 is a motorized ride-on toy designed for children aged 3 to 5 years. It provides a fun and interactive driving experience, allowing children to control its movement with a foot pedal for acceleration and a steering wheel for direction. The toy is intended for use in safe, secure environments with continuous adult supervision. It features basic controls for forward/reverse movement, on/off functionality, and vehicle sounds.

Safe Riding Warnings:

  • Adult Supervision: Continuous adult supervision is required at all times. Adults must read and understand the entire manual and evaluate the child's maturity, strength, judgment, and ability to follow safety rules.
  • Riding Environment:
    • Always use common sense and safe practices.
    • Ride on flat, hard surfaces for best performance.
    • Avoid wet conditions (rain, snow), swimming pools, other bodies of water, roads, streets, areas with other moving objects, drop-offs (steps, sloped surfaces, hills), loose dirt, mud, sand, fine gravel, loose gravel, and rough surfaces.
    • Do not ride at night or in conditions of low visibility.
    • Adults must set up physical barriers (gates, fences) to keep children away from hazardous areas.
    • Ensure a safe, secure environment with continuous adult supervision.
  • Rider Conduct:
    • Only one rider at a time.
    • Do not pull the ride-on toy with another vehicle or push the user from the back.
    • Do not travel at unsafe speeds, perform stunt riding, go over jumps or ramps, or ride in an unseated position.
    • Keep body parts, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts.
    • Always wear shoes.
    • Do not hitch (attach) to another ride-on or pull anyone/anything.
  • Braking: This ride-on toy does not have brakes or any braking capability. Do not leave a child unattended or use in locations requiring braking.

Battery and Charging Warnings:

  • Battery Type: Use only the supplied 6V rechargeable battery and charger.
  • Charging Location: Do not charge near heat or flammable materials. Plug the wall charger directly into a wall outlet; do not use an extension cord.
  • Battery Handling: Never open the battery. Lift the battery by its case or handles, not by the wires or charger. Avoid direct contact between positive and negative terminals.
  • Leakage: Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds (acids) chemicals, which are toxic and corrosive. Contact with battery leakage may cause serious injury; if contact occurs, call 911 immediately.
  • Electrical System: Do not tamper with or modify the electric circuit system. Keep liquids away from the battery and keep it dry to prevent fire or electric shock.
  • Charger Inspection: Regularly check the charger, supply cord, and connector for wear and damage (frayed/kinked wires, exposed inner wires, missing insulation). Do not use a damaged charger.
  • Charging Protocol:
    • Charge the battery for 18 hours before first use.
    • On average, charge for 10 hours.
    • Do not charge for more than 24 hours to prevent explosion or ignition.
    • Always disconnect the product from the charger after the battery is fully charged.
    • The product will not turn on while plugged into the charger; remove it before turning on.
    • Do not allow the battery to drain completely to prevent permanent damage.

Assembly Warnings:

  • Adult Assembly: Must be assembled by an adult who has read and understands the manual.
  • Choking Hazard: Contains small parts for adult assembly only; keep small children away during assembly.

Maintenance Features

Pre-Ride Safety Checklist (Performed by Supervising Adult):

  • Steering and Control:
    • Steering wheel/handlebars are tightened, secured, and positioned for easy operation.
    • No difficulty in turning or operating the foot pedal/push button.
    • Steering column and front wheels are aligned.
  • Wheels:
    • Wheels are securely attached and in good condition (slight lateral movement is acceptable).
    • No holes or worn areas on wheels; traction strips are intact and secured.
    • Drive wheel is securely fastened to the gearbox.
  • Ride-on (General):
    • Clean, dry, and in good condition.
    • All plastic pieces (fenders, seat, footrests, steering wheel/handlebars, wheels, bumpers, hub caps) are securely attached.
    • No cracks or structural problems.
    • All safety labels are in place, readable, and understood.
  • Electrical Components:
    • Battery is fully charged.
    • Charging cord is NOT attached.
    • All connectors are securely snapped in place.
    • No wiring is exposed, worn, or detached; motor is not hot to touch.
    • All electrical buttons (power, accelerator, lights, sounds) work properly.
    • If any damage or missing parts are observed, do not ride until corrected.

Battery Replacement and Disposal:

  • Lifespan: Battery typically operates for one to three years, depending on use.
  • Disposal: Recycle dead batteries responsibly. Lead-acid batteries are hazardous material and must be disposed of properly and legally. Do not incinerate or dispose of in landfills. Take to a federal or state-approved lead-acid battery recycler or authorized service center. Do not throw away with regular household trash.
  • Removal: Follow instructions in the manual to remove the battery for replacement.

General Maintenance:

  • Storage: Store the ride-on toy indoors or cover it with a tarp to protect it from wet weather. Keep away from heat sources (stoves, heaters).
  • Sun Exposure: Do not leave in the sun for long periods to prevent fading. Store in shade or cover with a tarp.
  • Cleaning:
    • Do not wash with a hose or with soap and water.
    • Clean with a soft, dry cloth.
    • To restore shine to plastic parts, use a non-wax furniture polish. Do not use car wax or abrasive cleaners. Water will damage the motor, electrical system, and battery.
