Usage Features
General Safety Rules:
- Electrical Safety: Keep work area clean, avoid explosive atmospheres, keep children away, match power tool plugs to outlets, avoid body contact with earthed surfaces, do not expose to rain, do not abuse the cord, use suitable extension cords outdoors.
- Personal Safety: Stay alert, use common sense, do not operate while tired or under influence, use safety equipment (eye protection, dust mask, non-skid shoes, hard hat, hearing protection), avoid accidental starting, remove adjusting keys/wrenches before turning on, do not overreach, dress properly (no loose clothing or jewelry).
- Power Tool Use and Care: Do not force the tool, use the correct tool for the application, do not use if the switch is faulty, disconnect from power source before adjustments/accessories changes/storage, store idle tools out of reach of children, maintain tools, keep cutting tools sharp, use tools and accessories as intended.
- Service: Have power tool serviced by qualified repair person using identical replacement parts.
Operations Cautions:
- Always ensure the Forward/Reverse Switch is in "OFF" and the tool is unplugged when changing bits.
- Avoid contact with chemicals (acetone, benzene, thinner, trichloroethylene ketone) to prevent housing damage.
- Do not drop or abuse the screwdriver.
- Do not adjust the torque setting higher than 8 on the torque scale.
- Observe tool rest intervals: cycles of three seconds or longer. The tool is designed for a duty cycle of 0.8 seconds on, 2.4 seconds off.
- This screwdriver is for metal assembly screws, not wood screws.
- Do not operate the Forward/Reverse Switch while the motor is running.
- When not in use, set the Forward/Reverse Switch to "OFF" and unplug.
Description of Operation:
- Attaching/Detaching Bits: Push up the holder clamp to unlock and allow bit attachment/detachment. Select bits with shanks matching the size shown.
- Operation: Insert the power plug, set the changeover switch to "F" (Forward). Apply the bit to the screw head and press the lever or push the main body to turn on the motor. The tool stops automatically when the set torque is reached.
- Resetting: Release the lever or the bit from the screw head to reset.
- Reverse: Set the changeover switch to "R" to return the screw.
Torque Adjustment Operation:
- Procedure:
- Determine the tool's torque output using a torque wrench on a tightened fastener.
- Rotate the Spring Adjusting Ring: clockwise for higher torque, counterclockwise for lower torque.
- Check adjustment with a torque wrench. Final adjustment should be made on the job through gradual increases, starting below the desired torque.
- Adjust bit torque by changing the driving-in length of the adjust ring.
- The torque scale figures are reference numbers, not actual torque values. Clamping torque varies based on screw type, size, material, and mating part material. Use the scale as a standard to achieve appropriate clamping torque.
- The "Return torque method" (measuring torque when a clamped screw is returned) may show 10%-30% lower values than actual clamping torque.
- Use a torque checker to measure screwdriver torque. Understand the correlation between clamping torque and checker values for proper torque control.
- Caution: In reverse rotation, the clutch also turns off, stopping the motor. For large torque tightening, set to a higher torque scale. The torque scale numbers (0-8) are reference only, not actual torque output.
Accessories:
- Bits: Various bit types are included with different models, specified for screw diameters (e.g., No. 00 for 1.3-1.8mm, No. 0 for 1.6-2.0mm, No. 1 for 2.0-2.6mm, No. 2 for 3.0-4.0mm).
- Carbon Brush: 2 Pcs (spare parts).
- Suspension Rack and Torque Fixing Ring: Available from KILEWS catalogue.
Maintenance Features
Maintenance and Inspection:
- Operating Condition: The screwdriver should be operated in top condition, with daily working hours not exceeding eight hours.
- Carbon Brush: Periodically check for wear. For eight hours of daily use, replace every five to six months.
- Motor Overheating: Do not let the motor overheat. Operate 10-15 screws per minute.
- Periodic Testing: If used more than eight hours a day, periodic testing and treatment are needed every 5-6 months.
- Cords: Inspect tool cords and extension cords periodically. Repair or replace if damaged by an authorized service facility.
- Labels: Do not remove any labels; replace any damaged labels.
Servicing Cautions:
- Using non-genuine KILEWS replacement parts may decrease tool performance, increase maintenance, and invalidate warranties.
- All repairs and maintenance must be performed by an authorized service center.
- KILEWS is not responsible for customer modifications of tools for unconsulted applications.
- Repairs should only be made by authorized, trained personnel. Consult the nearest KILEWS authorized service center.
- The employer is responsible for providing this manual to the operator.
- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS ELECTRIC SCREW DRIVER.
