Starting the Engine:

  1. Turn the fuel petcock lever to ON.

  4. Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt (compression point), then return and pull swiftly.
  5. Warm up the engine.
  6. Return the choke lever to the run position.
  7. Once warm, a load can be connected.

Stopping the Engine:

  1. Turn off the power switch of connected electrical apparatus and switch the circuit breaker to OFF.
  2. Turn the engine switch to STOP.
  3. Turn the fuel petcock lever to OFF.

    • Fuel Tank Filter Maintenance: Remove cap and filter, clean with solvent, wipe and insert. Ensure cap is securely tightened.
  • Choke: Check operation monthly (or every 20 hours).
  • Valve Clearance: Check and adjust every 6 months (or 100 hours) when engine is cold.
  • Fuel Line: Check for cracks/damage every 3 months (or 50 hours), replace if necessary.
  • Exhaust System: Check for leakage, retighten/replace gasket every 3 months (or 50 hours). Check muffler screen every 6 months (or 100 hours), clean/replace if necessary.
    • Muffler Screen Maintenance: Remove cover, remove muffler screen, pry out spark arrester, clean carbon deposits with wire brush, install screen, install cover.
  • Carburetor: Check choke operation every 3 months (or 50 hours).
  • Cooling System: Check fan damage every 3 months (or 50 hours).

  • Drain Fuel: Remove fuel tank cap, drain fuel from tank, and drain fuel from carburetor by loosening the drain screw.
  • Engine Preparation: Remove spark plug, pour one tablespoon of SAE 10W30 or 20W40 motor oil into the spark plug hole, reinstall spark plug, turn engine over several times with recoil starter (ignition off), pull recoil starter until compression is felt, stop pulling.
  • Cleaning & Storage: Clean exterior, apply rust inhibitor, store in a dry, well-ventilated place with a cover, and ensure the generator remains in a vertical position.
