Energy-saving tips and preparation for periods of
nonuse
On average, you will use yourhot
water dispenser to heat 7 to 8 cups
(1.7 to 1.9 liters)of water per day.
Thisuses only 19 kilowatt-hoursof
energy per month.So it isNot
necessaryto turn offthe hotwater
dispensereach nightto conserve
energy.
However,ifthe hotwater dispenser
will not be used for an extended
period of time, follow these
instructions:
For short periods (2-30 days of nonuse):
Set theTemperatureControlto the
=Off"positionto conserve energy.
For long periods of
nonuse (winterizing,
seasonal storage or
protection from freezing)"
1. TurnTemperature Control to the
"Off" position.
2. Unplughot water dispenserpower
supplycord.
3. Turn On/Off Cap, hold and run
water untilwater iscold.
4. Turn saddlevalve handle
clockwiseto turn offwatersupply.
5. Place a 3-quart (2.8 liter)
minimumcontainerunderthe
drainplugat thebottom of thetank.
6. Use a screwdriverto removethe
screwand O-dng fromthe drain
tube.
7. Replace the screw and O-ring in
the draintube opening.Tighten
the screwto raseal the drain.
When ready to use the dispenser
again, follow Installation
Instruction steps 14-16, page 9.
Do Not Turn Unit On If Tank Is
Empty. Damage to the unit will
result and is not covered by the
warranty.
Cleaning the spout screen
If you have very hard water,and you
noticethatthe waterflow is reduced,
1. TurnTemperatureControl to
the =Off"position. Push down and
turnOn/Off Cap clockwiseand
runwater untilit iscoldto avoid
possibilityof burn.
2. Remove the two spoutscrews.
3. Remove spoutbase plate.
4. Pullthe screen assemblyout of
the hot watertube.
itmay be necessary to clean the
spoutscreen.
5. Use a small brush and vinegarto
remove hard-waterdeposit.
If deposithas hardened, soak in
vinegarfor an houror two. Then
use a brushto clean.
6. Replace screen assemblyin tube.
Reattach plate back onto spout.
7. TurnTemperatureControlto the
=Max"setting.The dispenserwill
be ready inabout 15 minutes.
