Overview

The Kobi 12.7-Quart (12.0-Liter) Air Fryer, Model No. AF1200ESS, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for healthier cooking. It operates by circulating hot air to cook a variety of foods, offering a convenient alternative to traditional frying methods. This air fryer is capable of performing multiple cooking functions, including frying, baking, roasting, defrosting, and dehydrating, making it a comprehensive tool for diverse culinary needs.

Function Description

The primary function of the Kobi Air Fryer is to cook food using hot air circulation, which allows for the preparation of crispy and flavorful dishes with less oil compared to deep frying. The appliance is equipped with 11 preset menu functions, simplifying the cooking process for common dishes such as French fries, steak, fish, shrimp, pizza, chicken wings, and whole chicken. These presets offer default temperature and time settings, which can be manually adjusted to suit individual preferences and achieve desired cooking results.

Beyond the presets, the air fryer provides manual control over temperature and time, allowing users to customize settings for specific recipes or ingredients. The temperature range for most functions is 150–400 °F (65–200 °C), while the dehydrate function operates within a range of 150–200 °F (65–93 °C). The timer can be set from 1 to 60 minutes for most functions, and for the dehydrate function, it can be extended from 10 minutes to 9 hours, offering ample time for slow drying processes.

The air fryer also includes a lamp function, which can be turned on or off by pressing and holding the TEMP/TIME knob for 3 seconds, allowing users to monitor the cooking progress without opening the door. An automatic shut-off device ensures safety by turning off the unit when the timer reaches zero, with the fan continuing to run for about 20 seconds to cool down the appliance.

Usage Features

Before first use, it is essential to remove all packaging, confirm all accessories are included, and clean the accessories with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. The inside and outside of the unit should be wiped with a damp cloth. The unit should be placed on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, ensuring at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space around it for proper ventilation.

To operate, the air fryer is plugged into a power outlet, and the START/PAUSE knob is pressed to turn it on. Users can then select a preset setting by rotating the START/PAUSE knob, or manually adjust the temperature and time using the TEMP/TIME knob. Once settings are chosen, pressing the START/PAUSE knob initiates the cooking process.

The Kobi Air Fryer comes with a variety of accessories to enhance its functionality:

  • Crisper Tray: Ideal for dehydration, cooking crispy French fries, other side dishes, or reheating items like pizza. It slides onto the upper two rack positions. When using the crisper tray, it is recommended to flip or rotate food halfway through cooking for even results.
  • Drip Pan: Placed on the lowest rack position, it collects dripping oil and residue, simplifying cleanup.
  • Rotisserie Forks: Used for roasting whole chickens or other fowl. The rotisserie shaft is inserted through the fowl, and the forks are secured onto each end with set screws.
  • Rotisserie Basket: Designed for roasting nuts and other snacks. The rotisserie shaft is inserted through the basket, which is then secured with set screws. Food is placed inside the basket through its door, which is then secured with a hinged latch.
  • Rotisserie Skewer Racks with Skewers: Perfect for making kabobs with meat, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients. The rotisserie shaft threads through the center of the skewer racks, which are then secured with set screws. Skewers are loaded with food and inserted into the racks, ensuring even spacing for proper rotation and cooking.

To place rotisserie accessories into the oven, the right side of the rotisserie shaft is inserted into the socket on the right side of the oven, and the left side is placed onto the bracket on the left side. The fetch tool is provided to safely remove hot rotisserie accessories from the oven after cooking.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the Kobi Air Fryer. After each use, the unit should be unplugged and allowed to cool completely for approximately 30 minutes before cleaning. The accessories are dishwasher safe, but abrasive cleaning materials or utensils should be avoided to prevent scratches. For caked-on food, accessories can be soaked in warm, soapy water.

The inside of the unit, including the heating coil, should be cleaned with a slightly moist, non-abrasive sponge or cloth and mild detergent. It is crucial never to immerse the unit housing in water or rinse it under tap water, as it contains electrical components and heating elements. All parts must be thoroughly dried before the next use, especially the heating coil.

For storage, the air fryer should be unplugged and allowed to cool completely, ensuring all parts are clean and dry. It should never be stored while hot or wet. The unit can then be stored in its box or in a clean, dry place. Regular cleaning of the drip pan is important to prevent white smoke from frying greasy foods. If dark smoke appears, the unit should be immediately unplugged, and the smoke allowed to clear before removing accessories.
