Overview

This document provides an instruction manual for the KØKKEN CHEF Ice Cube Maker, model number 10100957. The manual is available in Danish and English, offering comprehensive guidance on the device's operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The KØKKEN CHEF Ice Cube Maker is designed for rapid ice production, creating bullet-shaped ice cubes. It features indicators to alert the user when the ice storage container is full and when the water tank is low on water. The device also includes an automatic self-cleaning function for ease of maintenance.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Number: 10100957
  • Voltage: 220-240V~
  • Frequency: 50/60Hz
  • Power: 120 Watt
  • Daily Ice Output: 12 kg/24 hours
  • Cooling Agent: R600a (environmentally friendly)

Usage Features

The ice maker is straightforward to operate with a user-friendly control panel.

Control Panel: The control panel includes the following indicators and a button:

  • POWER: On/Off button.
  • ICE MAKING: Indicator light for ice production. It flashes during deicing and stays on during ice making.
  • ICE FULL: Alarm indicator light for a full ice storage container. It flashes when the container reaches maximum capacity.
  • ADD WATER: Alarm indicator light for water shortage. It turns red when the water tank is empty.

Operating Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Open the lid, remove the ice basket, and add potable water to the reservoir. Ensure the water level does not exceed the "MAX" mark. If it does, drain the excess water through the bottom drain plug.
  2. Initial Setup: Before first use, or after a long period of inactivity, place the machine with the transparent cover open for at least two hours. Always use fresh water.
  3. Starting Ice Production: Plug in the power cord. The "ICE MAKING" indicator light will flash, and the machine will begin its deicing function. Press the "POWER" button to start ice making. The "ICE MAKING" light will remain on.
  4. Water Shortage Alarm: If the "ADD WATER" indicator light turns red, it means the water tank is empty. Add water and press the "POWER" button to restart the machine.
  5. Ice Full Alarm: When the ice storage container is full, the "ICE FULL" indicator light will flash, and the machine will stop. Empty the ice container, and the machine will automatically restart once the ice level is below the full sensor.
  6. Compressor Delay: If the compressor stops due to water shortage, excess water, or a power interruption, it will delay for three minutes before restarting.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Do not tilt the machine more than 45 degrees or reverse it during transportation to avoid damaging the compressor and sealing system.
  • Ensure the machine is placed on a level surface with at least 150mm clearance from the wall at the back for adequate ventilation. Keep it away from heat sources.
  • Distilled water is not recommended; mineral water is preferred.
  • The first three cycles of ice production may yield small and irregular ice cubes.
  • Promptly remove ice when the collecting tray is full to prevent overflow.
  • If a power failure occurs or the power button is pressed during ice making, small ice chips may jam the automatic shovel. Disconnect power, gently push the shovel to the rear, remove the chips, and restart.
  • If the ice shovel cannot remove ice, check if the water reservoir is flat. Gently push the ice shovel with a finger and press the "POWER" button to restart.
  • The compressor and condenser surfaces can reach temperatures between 70°C and 90°C during operation, making surrounding areas very hot.
  • Ice cubes may appear opaque due to trapped air during rapid freezing, which does not affect quality or taste.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and proper care are essential for the longevity and optimal performance of the ice maker.

Cleaning and Care:

  1. Frequent Cleaning: Clean the inner liner, ice collecting tray, water box, ice shovel, and evaporator frequently.
  2. Cleaning Procedure: Unplug the unit and remove any ice cubes before cleaning. Use a diluted solution of water and vinegar to clean both the inside and outside surfaces of the ice maker.
  3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not spray the ice maker with chemicals or diluted agents such as acids, gasoline, or oil.
  4. Rinsing: Rinse the appliance thoroughly before using it again.
  5. Ventilation: Keep ventilation openings clear of obstructions. Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate defrosting unless recommended by the manufacturer.
  6. Water Replacement: To ensure clean ice, change the water in the reservoir at least once a day. If the machine will not be used for a long time, drain the water completely and clean the unit.

Self-Cleaning Function:

  1. Activation: Plug in the power cord. Press and hold the "POWER" button for three seconds to activate the self-cleaning function.
  2. Indicators: The "ICE MAKING" indicator light will stay on, while the "ICE FULL" and "ADD WATER" indicator lights will flash alternately.
  3. Process: The machine will first deice, then begin the cleaning process, which consists of five cycles (pump water - pour water).
  4. Completion: Do not disconnect the power supply during cleaning. After cleaning, the machine will automatically enter standby mode.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting table for common issues:

  • Compressor buzzing: Indicates low voltage. Stop and restart when voltage is normal.
  • Water shortage light on: Water tank is empty or pump has air. Add water and restart.
  • Control panel lights off: Blown fuse or no power. Replace fuse or turn power on.
  • Large, sticking ice: Leftover ice from previous cycles. Remove ice while in standby.
  • No ice produced: Compressor issues (no refrigerant, damaged), or fan motor damaged. Contact place of purchase.
  • All indicators twinkling: Water box blocked by ice, motor stuck/damaged, or micro switch damaged. Unplug, remove ice, restart. Contact place of purchase if issues persist.
  • Water warming: Solenoid broke down. Replace solenoid valve.
  • "ICE FULL" icon not displayed: Ice full sensor damaged or sunlight interference. Replace sensor, make ice indoors, or contact place of purchase.

This comprehensive guide ensures users can effectively operate and maintain their KØKKEN CHEF Ice Cube Maker for a long and efficient lifespan.
