Overview

The KoreScale Gen2 is an intuitive smart scale designed to provide comprehensive health metrics. It functions as a personal health monitoring device, offering detailed insights into various body composition parameters beyond just weight. The scale utilizes high-precision sensors to measure and track 14 key health metrics, which are then displayed and recorded via a dedicated mobile application.

Function Description:

The primary function of the KoreScale Gen2 is to measure and track a user's body composition. When a user steps onto the scale with dry bare feet, it uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) through its four high-precision sensors to send a small, safe electrical current through the body. This current measures the resistance encountered, which is then used to estimate various body composition metrics. The scale features a hidden LED display that shows weight measurements directly on the device. For a full breakdown of all 14 health metrics, users need to connect the scale to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and use the KoreScale Gen2 app. The app provides a detailed body report, allowing users to track their progress over time and gain a deeper understanding of their health.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Weight Capacity: The device can withstand weights up to 180 kg (396 lb). Exceeding this weight may cause damage to the KoreScale.
  • Sensors: Equipped with four high-precision sensors for accurate measurements.
  • Display: Features a hidden LED display for showing weight.
  • Power Source: Requires 4 AAA batteries, which are inserted into a battery door on the back of the device.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth enabled for pairing with mobile devices (smartphones/tablets).
  • App Compatibility: The KoreScale Gen2 app is available for both iOS and Android devices.
  • Measurement Units: Supports weight units in lb, kg, and st (stone), selectable within the app settings.
  • Health Metrics Measured: Provides data for 14 key health metrics: Weight, BMI (Body Mass Index), Body Fat percentage, Fat-Free Body Weight, Subcutaneous Fat, Visceral Fat, Body Water, Skeletal Mass, Muscle Mass, Bone Mass, Protein, BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), Metabolic Age, and Heart Rate. The Heart Rate measurement reflects the average heart rate while standing on the scale.

Usage Features:

  1. Download and Setup: Users begin by downloading the KoreScale Gen2 app from their device's app store using provided QR codes for iOS or Android. After installation, users register their email address and personal information for record-tracking within the app.
  2. Powering On: The scale is powered by 4 AAA batteries. Users insert these batteries into the battery compartment on the back of the scale.
  3. Placement: For accurate measurements, the scale must be placed on a hard, flat, and even surface in a dry area.
  4. Waking the Scale: To activate the scale, users gently step onto the platform. The LED display will show "0.00" to indicate it's ready.
  5. Pairing with Mobile Device: Users must turn on the Bluetooth function on their smartphone or tablet. The KoreScale Gen2 will then pair with the device.
  6. Measurement Process: For comprehensive health metrics, users must step onto the scale with dry bare feet, ensuring their feet are evenly placed on the high-precision sensor lines. They should remain still for 10-15 seconds while the measurements are taken. During this time, the Bluetooth symbol on the scale will flash. Once measurements are complete, the Bluetooth symbol will stop flashing, and the data will sync to the mobile device.
  7. Body Report: After syncing, the KoreScale Gen2 app will display a detailed body report, breaking down all 14 health metrics.
  8. Calibration: The scale performs an initial calibration. A flashing number on the display indicates that calibration is complete.
  9. Body Fat Testing Indicator: During body fat tests, zeroes will flash from side to side on the display. When these zeroes stop flashing, the test is complete.
  10. Language and Unit Settings: The app allows users to change the default language (English) and preferred weight units (lb/kg/st) via the "My Account" > "Settings" menu.
  11. Standalone Weight Measurement: While the app is necessary for full health metrics, the scale can be used on its own to measure and display weight.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: If the display shows "Lo," it indicates low battery, and the batteries need to be changed. If there is "NO display," users should check if the batteries have been inserted correctly.
  • Placement and Environment: Keep the KoreScale away from extreme temperatures and excessive moisture to ensure longevity and accuracy.
  • Handling: Do not drop the KoreScale or allow objects to fall onto it, as this can damage the hardware. Always step gently onto the scale to avoid damage.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • "NO display": Check if batteries have been inserted correctly.
    • "Lo": Change batteries.
    • "Err": Indicates weight overload (exceeding 180kg/396lb).
    • "CAL": Indicates the scale is calibrating.
    • "58.00 kg" (with no wireless connection symbol): Working normally.
    • "58.00 kg" (with wireless connection symbol): No wireless connection.

Important Safety Information:

The KoreScale Gen2 is not suitable for individuals with pacemakers or other electronic medical implants, people with fever symptoms or osteoporosis, those undergoing dialysis treatment, individuals taking cardiovascular medication, and pregnant women. Users should adhere to the maximum weight capacity of 180kg/396lb to prevent damage to the device.
