Why is the compressor not running on my KRATOS 69K-766 Freezer?
    • M
      mcleanparkerAug 12, 2025
If the compressor in your KRATOS Freezer isn't running, several factors could be at play. First, check if a fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped; if so, replace the fuse or reset the breaker. If that doesn't solve the problem, consider contacting a qualified service technician. Also, verify that the power cord is properly plugged in. Finally, make sure the thermostat isn't set too high; try setting it to a lower temperature.

What to do if the cabinet temperature is too warm in my KRATOS 69K-766 Freezer?

      baileyturnerAug 19, 2025
If the cabinet temperature of your KRATOS Freezer is too warm, there are a few potential reasons. Ensure that the thermostat isn't set too high by setting it to a lower temperature. Insufficient airflow could also be the cause; rearrange the products inside to allow for proper air circulation, and make sure there's at least four inches of clearance from the fan. Low refrigerant levels may also be a factor, so contact a qualified service technician to check them. Lastly, check that the door is completely closed.

If condensation is collecting on the cabinet and/or floor around your KRATOS Freezer, it might be due to the gasket not sealing properly. Try to clean, repair, or replace the gasket as needed to ensure a proper seal.

Overview

This document is a service, installation, and operation manual for Kratos Undercounter Freezers, specifically models 69K-766 (1-door), 69K-764 (2-door), and 69K-753 (2-door).

Function Description:

The Kratos Undercounter Freezers are self-contained refrigeration appliances designed for commercial use. They are intended to maintain frozen temperatures for stored products. The units operate on a refrigerated cycle where evaporator fans run when the evaporator coil temperature is below 54°F (12°C). During a defrost period, the fans cycle off, and electric heaters activate. Anti-condensation heaters on the door frames work in conjunction with the compressor. The recommended holding temperature range is -10°F to 10°F (-23°C to 12°C), with a factory preset of 5°F (-15°C). The units are equipped with a solid-state thermostat for precise temperature control and monitoring.

Usage Features:

  • Solid-State Thermostat: The units are equipped with a Dixell solid-state thermostat, featuring a front panel with commands for displaying and changing the set point, initiating manual defrost, and browsing/adjusting parameters.
  • Keyboard Lock: The thermostat has a keyboard lock function to prevent accidental changes to settings.
  • Alarm System: The thermostat provides alarm signaling for various issues, including room probe failure ("P1"), evaporator probe failure ("P2"), maximum/minimum temperature alarms ("HA"/"LA"), external alarms ("EA"/"CA"), and door open alarm ("dA").
  • Power Switch: A green-glowing power switch is located on the front of the bottom panel.
  • Casters: All models are supplied with casters for easy movement, with two braking casters for the front and two non-braking casters for the rear, ensuring stability during use when locked.
  • Air Circulation: Proper air circulation inside the cabinet is crucial for efficient refrigeration, with refrigerated air discharged at the top rear and drawn into the evaporator coil by fans at the front. Shelves have a rear turn-up to prevent obstructions.
  • Installation Clearance: A minimum of 2 inches (51mm) clearance from any wall is recommended, and a maximum door swing clearance of 60.5 inches (1537mm) for the 69K-753, 53 inches (1346mm) for the 69K-764, and 58 inches (1473mm) for the 69K-766.
  • Safety: The units are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed UL 471 safety and NSF 7 sanitation standards. They utilize R290 flammable refrigerant, requiring service by trained personnel.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Exterior and Interior: Clean with soap and warm water, or a non-abrasive liquid cleaner. Always rub with the grain of the stainless steel. Avoid abrasive cleaners, sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or cleaners containing chlorides.
    • Condenser Coil: Regular cleaning is recommended every 90 days, or every 30 days if heavy debris accumulates. Use a simple brush for light dust, a vacuum or compressed air for heavier build-up, and de-greasing agents for heavy grease. Avoid high-pressure water wash to prevent damage to electrical components.
  • Gasket Maintenance: Gaskets should be cleaned regularly with warm soapy water to prevent mold and mildew and maintain elasticity. They are "Dart" style and can be easily replaced by pulling them out of the groove and pressing new ones into place.
  • Doors/Hinges: If doors sag, tighten the hinge bracket screws to the frame of the unit to prevent damage.
  • Drain Maintenance: Each unit has an internal drain to remove condensation from the evaporator coil, which then evaporates into an external condensate pan. Ensure the drain tube is connected and free of obstructions to prevent water accumulation inside or underneath the unit. A level floor is also important for proper drainage.
  • Power Disconnection: Always turn off and disconnect the unit from the power source before performing any service, maintenance, or cleaning to prevent electrical shock or injury.
  • Compressor Protection: After unplugging or a power cut, wait at least 8 minutes before plugging the unit back in or turning it on to prevent compressor damage.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide to help diagnose and resolve common issues before calling for service, such as the compressor not running, cabinet temperature being too warm, interior light not working, and condensation.
