Do you have a question about the KTS-Electronic GPA 1000 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The GPA 1000 is a ground penetrating analyzer designed for detecting alterations in the ground, such as metal objects, oil structures, and excavations. It utilizes a microprocessor for calibration and measurement, and wirelessly transfers data via Bluetooth® to a tablet computer. The device is designed for ease of use and portability, making it suitable for various ground scanning applications.

Function Description:

The GPA 1000 operates by measuring changes in the ground's magnetic field. It can detect both natural ground magnetism and anomalies caused by buried objects or geological formations. The device is capable of 2D and 3D data representation, allowing for comprehensive visualization of scan results.

The measurement process involves setting up the device, initiating a scan, and then analyzing the collected data using the GPA Visualizer software. The software allows users to adjust measurement speed (normal, fast, max. speed), define search parameters like the number of tracks, track length, and step width, and visualize the data in various display modes.

The device supports different search modes, including a "universal probe" for general searches and a "super probe" for deeper penetration. A "live mode" provides real-time data visualization, which is useful for quickly identifying large areas of interest before conducting more precise 3D scans. The "3D-search mode" is used for detailed ground examinations, where the area is divided into tracks, and the device scans in either the same or alternate directions.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Electronic Unit: GPA 1000 V16 with Bluetooth® for wireless data transfer to a tablet computer.
  • Battery: Installed li-ion battery, fully charged within 90 minutes. Actual operating time is approximately 6-12 hours, depending on coil size and headphone usage.
  • Universal Probe: 45.5 cm (17.72") in length.
  • Super Probe: 60 cm (23.6") in length.
  • Telescope Bar: 2-part carbon telescope bar with armrest and bag.
  • Charger: Powerful quick-charger 220 Volt, including 110 Volt adapter.
  • Transformer: For charging in a car.
  • Searchcoil (optional): 25 cm (10") Ø searchcoil (waterproof) with carbon telescope bar.
  • Cylindrical Coil (optional): 5 cm Ø, 20 cm (7.87") in length, 10 m (32 ft.) cable.
  • System Requirements: 32-bit application, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 7 or 8. Minimum requirements include a processor with pulse frequency from 1000 MHz or more, a hard disc with approximately 10-20 MByte free storage space, a graphic card with a minimum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, and Bluetooth® ability for connection to the external measuring hardware.
  • Software: KTS-3D GPA Visualizer software (pre-installed on PC).
  • Data Storage: USB stick with software for processing data on other computers.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The universal and super probes are easily assembled by plugging the telescope bar into the probe's mount and connecting the sensor cable to the electronic unit.
  • Bluetooth® Connectivity: Enables fast and secure transfer of measured data to a tablet computer for visualization and analysis.
  • GPA Visualizer Software: Provides a user-friendly interface for starting programs, setting measurement parameters, and viewing scan results in 2D and 3D.
  • Measurement Speed Settings: Users can choose between normal, fast, and max. speed for measurements.
  • Search Control: The "Stop" button allows interruption of a search at any time, and the "Start" button resumes it. A "Reset" button is available for restarting a search.
  • Straight Line Search: For accurate results, searches should always be conducted in a straight line. Interruptions via the "Stop" button are recommended when changing direction or bypassing obstacles.
  • Data Interpretation: The software displays measured values (S for sensor value, C for calibration value, Bat for battery charge condition). Calibration values between 2 and 3 are optimal for search performance.
  • Display Options: The GPA Visualizer offers various display alternatives, including proportional and quadratic representations, and absolute or relative data presentation. Users can switch between graphical and numerical views of measurements.
  • Menu Bar: Provides access to data, display, options, and info menus.
  • Options Window: Divided into four categories: Paths (for saving data), Colors and Coordinates (for customizing graphic cursor, background, grid, and rainbow colors, and setting X, Y, Z coordinates and visibility), Languages (German, English, French, Spanish), and Serial Interface (for selecting COM ports for Bluetooth® pairing).
  • Data Recording: Allows modulation before and after data recording, with options for 2D or 3D display.
  • Bluetooth® Pairing: The device can be paired with a laptop or PC by adding it as a device in the Bluetooth® settings. A passcode "1234" is used for installation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Care: The GPA 1000 V16 requires little maintenance. It is recommended to avoid extreme temperatures, protect the electronic unit with a plastic bag in case it is exposed to rain, fog, or dust, and always keep the equipment clean and dry.
  • Warranty: KTS-Electronic GmbH & Co. KG guarantees repair work free of charge resulting from factory errors for 24 months from the date of purchase. Defects arising from manufacturing errors or defects and reported within 24 months after delivery to the ultimate buyer are covered. Defective parts will be repaired gratuitously or replaced by efficient parts. On-site repairs are not demanded. Replaced, respectively exchanged parts merge into the property of KTS-Electronic. The guarantee claim expires in cases of improper handling, gross carelessness, or when repairs, modifications, or extensions are carried out by unauthorized persons. Guarantee claims will neither affect an extension of the term nor will they implement a new time limit. Further requirements are excluded, unless a commitment is not necessarily the case. KTS-Electronic GmbH & Co. KG is not liable for any accidental, indirect, or other subsequent damages of any kind, including but not limited to use, data loss, profit setbacks, or operating failures.
  • Driver Reinstallation: In case of connecting to another laptop, copy the entire data content from the provided USB stick to the hard disc. Additional software is not necessary, and the device will be operational.
  • Legal Note: Before starting a search, users should note that monument protection regulations as well as other legal standards are relevant. KTS-Electronic GmbH & Co. KG assumes no responsibility for possible legal violations. In cases of doubt, a comprehensive consultation with an attorney or national monument offices is recommended.
