This document describes the KXD ATV, a compact all-terrain vehicle designed for recreational use, with a strong emphasis on safety and proper operation. It outlines the vehicle's functions, technical specifications, usage guidelines, and maintenance requirements.

General Information and Safety

The KXD ATV is not a toy and is recommended for riders 14 years old or over. Riders under 16 must operate the vehicle under adult supervision and receive proper training. The manual stresses the importance of understanding all safety warnings and labels, as incorrect operation can lead to serious injury or death. It is crucial to wear appropriate safety gear, including a helmet, gloves, protective clothing, and footwear, before riding. The vehicle is not intended for off-road use and should be walked when crossing roads. It is designed for single-person use, and operating it under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Riders must always control their speed and avoid excessive speeds. Modifications to the vehicle or its spare parts are unsafe and illegal. The accelerating installation is preset and should not be adjusted by users.

Usage Features

  • Assembly: The manual provides a step-by-step guide for assembling the ATV, including installing steering linkages, rear shock absorbers, tires, handlebars, bumper, and accessories. It emphasizes connecting battery cables with the electric lock in the "OFF" state, positive first.
  • VIN Location: The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on the right side of the front frame.
  • Key Switch: Located on the right side of the vehicle's front part, with "OFF" and "ON" positions. "OFF" allows key removal and prevents engine start and light operation. "ON" allows engine start and headlight operation.
  • Function Switch: Located on the left side of the handlebar, it includes buttons for electric horn, start (red button, requires brake hand ready), headlight (near light/distance light), and turn-off switch.
  • Charger (Optional): Input voltage 220V or 110V, output 12V. Indicator light is red when charging and green when fully charged.
  • Burglar Alarm (Optional): 12V input. Features anti-theft (lock key), keyless start (press "start" twice), and telecontrol stop (press "unlock" button within range of remote control).
  • Emergency Turn-Off Stop Switch: Located on the left side of the rear frame or left handlebar. Pulling or pressing it stops the engine. An emergency rope can be fastened to the driver for automatic vehicle stop if the driver falls off.
  • Tires: Proper tire pressure is crucial for stability and comfort. Regular checks and adjustments are necessary. Tire size and standard pressure are found on the parameter list and warning label. Tire tread wearing over 2mm requires replacement.
  • Tire Gauge (Optional): Provided on the key ring for convenience.
  • Loading Adjustment: Regular checks of front tire toe-in are required, ensuring the front center distance is 5-10mm shorter than the rear center distance.
  • Chain Adjustment: The chain should have 15-20mm of play when lightly pressed in the middle. Adjust the chain adjuster on both sides simultaneously for balance.
  • Starting: Park on flat ground, turn key to "ON". If the engine doesn't start, open the choke valve, try again, then close it once the engine runs steadily. Start with slow throttle.
  • Riding: Always pay attention to brake condition. Avoid one-handed driving, sudden throttle movements. Use both front and rear brakes simultaneously to slow down. Avoid dangerous movements while driving.
  • Parking: Turn back the throttle, brake, turn key to "OFF", and remove the key. Use the parking function to prevent sliding.
  • Transport: Transport the well-packed vehicle.

Maintenance Features

  • Inspection Before Riding:
    • Idling: Stabilize the vehicle, shake it to inspect swing arm and fork condition.
    • Suspension: Check front and rear shock absorbers for deformation or leakage. Ensure front suspension and rear flat fork are fastened.
    • Brake Systems: Check front and rear brake installation firmness and effectiveness. Ensure brake handles move within specified ranges (20-30mm). The front brake lever has a parking feature.
    • Battery (If Available): Maintenance-free battery. Check joint tightness. Do not discard, charge only when out of power. For extended inactivity, check electric quantity every 3 weeks and charge if below 12V. Do not place upside down when charging or storing.
    • Tool Bag: Ensure the tool bag is present and equipped with professional tools.
    • Self-Protection: Wear protective clothing correctly.
  • Cleaning: After every ride, clean the vehicle. Avoid high-pressure air or water on key switch, cables, and battery. Wash with clean water. Do not turn on the key switch immediately after cleaning. Lubricate the chain.
  • Storage: If not used for a long time, check the vehicle's condition. Clean and wax the surface. Turn off the key switch. Clean and lubricate the chain and all cable parts. Store in a cool, ventilated place to avoid damp and sun exposure.
  • Maintenance Schedule: The manual provides a maintenance timetable for various components, including fuel system, throttle, air filter, spark plug, carburetor, chain, brake pads, brake system, nuts and bolts, tire, steering system, and suspension system.
    • First Week: Inspection for most components.
    • 30 Days After Driving: Inspection and lubrication for most components.
    • Each Year: Inspection and lubrication for most components.
  • Engine Maintenance: After every driving, close the switch of the carburetor and oil-way. Release the rest oil. This is very important. If not done accordingly, the vehicle will not be able to start after it has been placed for a long time, or the carburetor will leak.
