GETTING STARTED
IMPORTANT Set up the remote outdoor sensor
first before setting the main unit.
REMOTE SENSOR – INSERT BATTERIES
The main unit can collect data from up to 3 sensors.
To set up the sensor:
1. Open the battery compartment.
2. Insert the battery, matching the polarities.
3. Select a channel then
press RESET.
4. Close the battery door.
5. Place the sensor within 30 m (98 ft) of the main
unit using the table stand or wall mount.
TIP Ideal placements for the sensor would be in
any location on the exterior of the home at a height
of not more than 1.5 m (5 ft) and which can shield it
from direct sunlight or wet conditions for an accurate
reading.

NOTE
Press RESET after each battery change or channel

Use alkaline batteries for longer usage and
consumer grade lithium batteries in temperatures
below freezing.

MAIN UNIT - SOLAR PANEL
The solar panel is an energy saving feature, which is
an environmentally friendly way to provide additional
power to the main unit and prolongs battery life. How-
ever, it cannot replace battery power entirely.
SENSOR DATA TRANSMISSION
To search for a sensor:
Press and hold + MODE.
The sensor reception icon in the remote sensor
area shows the status:

TIP
The transmission range may vary depending
on many factors. You may need to experiment with
various locations to get the best results.
MANUALLY SET CLOCK
To set the clock manually:
1. Press and hold MODE.
2. Press or to change the settings.
3. Press MODE to confirm.
4. The settings order is: time zone,12/24 hr format,
hour, minute, year, calendar mode (day – month /
month – day), month, day and language.
Time zone offset sets the clock +/- 23 hours from the
received clock signal time.
Select the time zone: (P) Pacific, (E) Eastern, (C)
Central or (M) Mountain.
NOTE The language options are English (E), Ger
-
man (D), French (F), Italian (I), Spanish (S) and
Russian (R).
To select display mode:
Press MODE to choose between clock with seconds,
clock with weekday or calendar.
TEMPERATURE
To toggle temperature unit:
Press
°C / °F.
To toggle between each outdoor sensors readings:
Press
repeatedly.
OR
Press and hold + MEM for 2 seconds to initiate auto
toggle of outdoor channels.
To end press

RESET
Press RESET to return to the default settings.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock,
dust, temperature or humidity.
Do not cover the ventilation holes with any items
such as newspapers, curtains etc.
Do not immerse the unit in water. If you spill liquid
over it, dry it immediately with a soft, lint-free
cloth.
Do not clean the unit with abrasive or corrosive
materials.
Do not tamper with the unit’s internal components.
This invalidates the warranty.
Only use fresh batteries. Do not mix new and old
batteries.

Overview

The L.L.Bean Solar First Watch Weather Station (Model: 0KSV1) is a weather station designed to provide indoor and outdoor temperature readings, time, and calendar functions. It consists of a main unit with a solar panel and a remote outdoor sensor.

Function Description:

The main unit displays indoor temperature, outdoor temperature (from up to three remote sensors), time with weekday, and calendar information. Usage Features:

Main Unit Controls:

  • RESET: Resets the unit to default settings.
  • °C/°F: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • MODE: Used to change settings, select display modes (clock with seconds, clock with weekday, or calendar), and confirm selections during manual clock setup. Press and hold to enter manual clock setup.
  • ▲/▼ (Increase/Decrease): Adjusts values during settings, activates/deactivates clock reception signal, and toggles between outdoor channels (1-3).
  • MEM: Views current, maximum, and minimum temperature records. Press and hold to clear records. Press and hold with ▲ for 2 seconds to initiate auto-toggle of outdoor channels.

Remote Sensor Controls:

  • RESET hole: Resets the sensor.
  • CHANNEL switch: Selects the transmission channel (1, 2, or 3).

Getting Started:

  1. Remote Sensor Setup: Insert batteries into the remote sensor, select a channel, and press RESET. Place the sensor within 30 m (98 ft) of the main unit, ideally in a shielded location (e.g., under an eave) at a height of not more than 1.5 m (5 ft) to avoid direct sunlight or wet conditions.
  2. Main Unit Setup: Insert batteries into the main unit and press RESET.

Clock and Calendar:

  • Manual Clock Setting: Press and hold MODE to enter setup. Use ▲/▼ to adjust time zone, 12/24 hr format, hour, minute, year, calendar mode (day-month/month-day), month, day, and language. Press MODE to confirm each setting.
  • Time Zone Offset: Allows setting the clock +/- 23 hours from the received clock signal.
  • Language Options: English (E), German (D), French (F), Italian (I), Spanish (S), and Russian (R).
  • Display Modes: Toggle between clock with seconds, clock with weekday, or calendar using MODE.

Temperature Display:

  • Clear Records: Press and hold MEM to clear all recorded temperature data.

Sensor Data Transmission:

  • Searching for Sensor: Press and hold MODE on the main unit. The remote sensor reception icon will indicate status (searching, found, or not found).
  • Transmission Range: Can vary due to environmental factors; experimentation with sensor placement may be necessary.

Maintenance Features:

Battery Information:

  • Remote Sensor: Use alkaline batteries for general use; use lithium batteries in temperatures below freezing for extended performance.
  • Battery Replacement: Press RESET after each battery change in both the main unit and remote sensor.
  • Low Battery Indicators: Icons on the display indicate low battery for the main unit and the remote sensor.

Precautions:

  • Handling: Avoid excessive force, shock, dust, temperature, or humidity.
