What to do if my computer does not recognize LaCie Rugged All-Terrain drive?
    • D
      Denise MaldonadoJul 27, 2025
There should be an icon for the LaCie Storage drive on the desktop. If the drive does not appear, check both ends of the FireWire, eSATA, or USB cables to ensure they are fully seated in their respective ports. Try disconnecting the cables, waiting 10 seconds, and then reconnecting them. If the drive is connected via USB and doesn't mount, it may not be receiving enough power. Try connecting the USB power sharing cable. If the drive is still not recognized, restart your computer and try again.

Why does my LaCie Rugged All-Terrain Storage drive turn on and off with my computer?

This is normal behavior. Your LaCie Storage drive includes an auto-switching power feature. When connected to your computer, the drive will automatically power on when you turn on the computer, and power off when you turn off the computer.

Why is my LaCie Rugged All-Terrain Storage drive not running faster via Hi-Speed USB 2.0?
    • M
      mmurrayAug 15, 2025
If your LaCie Storage drive is connected to a USB port or hub, its performance may be limited. A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 device can only operate at Hi-Speed USB 2.0 performance levels when directly connected to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port or hub. Otherwise, it will operate at slower USB transfer rates. Also, verify that the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 drivers for both your host bus adapter and the device are correctly installed. If you are not sure, uninstall and reinstall the drivers.
