Overview

The LALIZAS SOLAS/MED FOAM Lifejacket is a personal flotation device designed for emergency situations, ensuring the safety of individuals in water. These lifejackets are available in various models, including infant, child, and adult sizes, each with specific donning instructions and features tailored to the user's age and size.

Function Description:

The primary function of the LALIZAS SOLAS/MED FOAM Lifejacket is to provide buoyancy and keep the wearer afloat in water, particularly in emergency scenarios. It is designed to be easily donned and secured, offering a reliable means of support for infants, children, and adults. The lifejacket's foam construction provides inherent buoyancy, eliminating the need for inflation. For infant and child models, the design emphasizes a secure fit to prevent slippage and ensure the child's head remains above water. Adult models often include a crotch strap for enhanced security, preventing the lifejacket from riding up in the water.

Important Technical Specifications:

The lifejackets are certified to SOLAS/MED standards, indicating compliance with international safety regulations for marine equipment. Specific models include:

  • 70176 LALIZAS Advanced Infant Lifejacket, SOLAS/MED 2010: Designed for infants, featuring buckles for a secure fit and a design that supports the infant's position in the water.
  • 70177 - 70178 LALIZAS Advanced Child Lifejacket, SOLAS/MED 2010: Tailored for children, with buckles and a waist strap for adjustment to ensure a snug fit.
  • 72214-72215 LALIZAS Compact Adult Folding Lifejacket, SOLAS/MED 2016: An adult-sized lifejacket, often featuring a compact, folding design for easier storage. It includes buckles, a waist belt, and a crotch strap for maximum security.

All models are constructed with foam for buoyancy and typically include retro-reflective tapes for increased visibility in low-light conditions. They are equipped with buckles and adjustable straps to accommodate different body sizes and ensure a tight, secure fit. Some models may also include a whistle for signaling.

Usage Features:

The lifejackets are designed for intuitive and quick donning in emergency situations. Users are strongly advised to practice donning the lifejacket beforehand to become familiar with its features and ensure correct usage.

Donning Instructions for Infant/Child Lifejackets (e.g., 70176, 70177-70178):

  1. Step 1 (Unclip): Unclip both buckles of the lifejacket.
  2. Step 2 (Wear): Wear the lifejacket just as you would wear a jacket, positioning it over the head.
  3. Step 3 (Clip): Clip together both buckles of the lifejacket.
  4. Step 4 (Adjust): Pull the strap until it is perfectly adjusted around the waist, ensuring a snug fit.
  5. Crotch Strap (if applicable): If the model has a crotch strap, pass it between the legs, fasten the buckle, and adjust the strap for a secure fit. For infants/children, adult assistance is crucial to ensure correct and tight fitting.

Donning Instructions for Adult Lifejackets (e.g., 72214-72215):

  1. Step 1 (Unclip): Unclip both buckles of the lifejacket.
  2. Step 2 (Wear): Pull the lifejacket over your head, wearing it like a jacket.
  3. Step 3 (Fasten & Tighten): Fasten the buckle and tighten the waist belt securely.
  4. Step 4 (Crotch Strap): Always use the crotch strap. Pass the strap between the legs, fasten the buckle, and adjust the crotch strap for a tight fit. In an emergency, if needed, users should enter the water feet first while holding the lifejacket.

Storage:

Lifejackets must be stored in a dark, clean, and dry area, easily accessible in an emergency. It is crucial not to compress the lifejackets during storage, as this can damage the foam and affect buoyancy. Avoid contact with sharp objects and extreme temperatures.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance and inspection are vital to ensure the lifejacket remains in optimal condition for emergency use.

Cleaning:

  • After use in salty water, rinse the lifejacket with fresh water.
  • Allow it to dry naturally before storing.
  • Never use a washing machine or any other artificial drying method, as this can damage the materials.

Service Intervals:

  • Adhere to SOLAS/MED provisions for service intervals.
  • Frequent visual inspection is recommended. Check for any damage such as scratches, holes, or deterioration of the fabric or components (crotch straps, buckles).
  • If any damage is observed or if the buckle's operation is compromised, do not use the lifejacket. Contact LALIZAS or an authorized service station immediately.

Inspection Process:

  1. Visual Check: Lay the lifejacket on a flat, clean surface. Visually inspect for any damages: small rips, tears, punctures, chemical or heat burns, and broken or damaged stitches. Ensure the lifejacket is dry before storage.
  2. Retro Reflective Tapes: Check that the retro-reflective tapes are in good condition and securely adhesive.
  3. Buckles: Verify the proper operation of all buckles.
  4. Accessories: Confirm that the lifejacket light and whistle (if present) are attached and functional. Ensure reflective tapes show no signs of deterioration.

Any damage to the outer fabric, surface, or accessories (e.g., scratches, holes, deterioration, color change, or damage to buckles/webbings) can compromise the lifejacket's performance. In such cases, the lifejacket must not be used, and LALIZAS or an authorized service station should be contacted.
