Overview

This document provides user instructions for the Lamona 70:30 Integrated Fridge Freezer, model LAM6350, which features a frost-free design. It covers important safety information, installation guidelines, operating instructions, and maintenance tips to ensure safe and efficient use of the appliance.

Function Description:

The Lamona 70:30 Integrated Fridge Freezer is designed for domestic household use, specifically for storing and freezing edible foodstuffs. It features a 70% fridge compartment and a 30% freezer compartment, integrated into kitchen cabinetry. The appliance utilizes a cooling circuit with Isobutane (R600a) coolant, an environmentally friendly natural gas that does not damage the ozone layer or contribute to the greenhouse effect. The frost-free feature means that the freezer compartment defrosts automatically, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. The fridge compartment also defrosts automatically, with defrost water draining into a collection channel at the back.

Usage Features:

The fridge freezer offers adjustable temperature control, allowing users to set the interior temperature between MIN and MAX, with MAX being the coldest setting (normally recommended at 2.5 for initial setup). It is equipped with Freezer Guard technology, ensuring that frozen food remains frozen even if the ambient temperature drops to -15°C. However, in such low ambient conditions, it is recommended not to use the fridge compartment as food may freeze.

The appliance includes various storage features:

  • Adjustable Shelves: The fridge shelves can be adjusted to different heights to accommodate various food items. They should be removed and adjusted only when empty, with the raised edge of the protective strip facing upwards to prevent food from touching the back wall and freezing.
  • Wine Rack: A dedicated wine rack can be adjusted or angled to store bottles securely.
  • Salad Crisper: A drawer at the bottom of the fridge is designed for storing fruits and vegetables, and it can be removed for cleaning.
  • Door Shelves: Multiple shelves on the fridge door, including a bottle shelf and an egg tray, provide additional storage for smaller items and bottles. These shelves can also be removed and adjusted.
  • Freezer Drawers: The freezer compartment contains drawers for organizing frozen food. These drawers can be removed to allow for storage of larger items or for cleaning.
  • Glass Separator Shelf: Within the freezer, glass separator shelves can be removed to create more space.

To optimize food storage and energy efficiency, users are advised to:

  • Allow air to circulate efficiently by not packing food too closely.
  • Store raw meat and poultry below cooked food and dairy products.
  • Wrap foods with strong odors or those prone to drying out.
  • Avoid placing hot food directly into the appliance; allow it to cool first.
  • Not leave the door(s) open longer than necessary.
  • Defrost frozen food in the fridge compartment to assist with cooling.

The appliance also features a door alarm that sounds and causes the interior light to pulse if the fridge door is left open for more than 3 minutes, reminding users to close it. The interior light is an LED lamp, which is not user-replaceable and requires professional service if it fails.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and care are essential for maintaining the performance and longevity of the fridge freezer.

  • Cleaning Frequency: The fridge interior should be cleaned monthly, and the freezer compartment annually. Spillages should be cleaned immediately to prevent drying.
  • Cleaning Agents: Use a clean cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and a small amount of food-safe washing-up liquid. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents, solvents, oven sprays, glass cleaning sprays, sharp metal scrapers, or steam cleaning equipment, as these can damage surfaces or electrical components.
  • Preparing for Cleaning: Before cleaning, switch off the appliance at the mains socket and remove the plug. Remove all food, glass shelves, door shelves, and freezer drawers.
  • Fridge Interior and Fittings: Clean the interior and all removable fittings with the recommended solution, then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Leave the doors open to air the fridge and prevent odor buildup.
  • Defrost Collection Channel: The defrost collection channel and drain hole at the back of the fridge should be cleaned frequently using the provided plastic plunger to clear any blockages.
  • Door Seals: Clean the door seals regularly with a mild detergent and a clean, dry cloth. Do not use oils or grease on the seals, as this can cause deterioration. The door seals are not removable.
  • Ventilation Void: The ventilation void should be cleaned regularly with a soft brush and vacuum cleaner to prevent dust buildup, which can increase energy consumption.
  • After Cleaning: Replace all shelves and accessories, reconnect the appliance to the mains, switch it on, and allow it to reach the correct temperature before reloading food.

The manual also includes a problem-solving section to help users identify and resolve common issues, such as the appliance not operating, excessive ice buildup, vibration noise, or water accumulation. For any issues not resolved by these checks, users are advised to contact the Lamona Service Line.
