Overview

The LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter is a compact and reliable device designed to provide emergency power backup for various DC-powered equipment. It ensures continuous operation of essential devices during power outages, safeguarding against data loss and service interruptions.

Function Description

The primary function of the LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter is to act as an uninterruptible power supply for DC-powered devices. It automatically switches to battery power when the main utility power fails, ensuring that connected equipment remains operational. This is particularly useful for devices such as routers, modems, set-top boxes, VOIP phone systems, surveillance systems, alarm systems, access control systems, and other critical telecom equipment. The adapter is designed to provide a seamless transition to battery power, preventing any disruption to the connected loads. It also features an automatic charging function, ensuring that the internal battery is always ready for use.

Usage Features

Installation and Operation:

Installation of the LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter is straightforward. Users should first inspect the unit to ensure no damage occurred during shipping. To begin, plug the AC input plug (D) of the UPS into a wall outlet. The UPS will automatically turn on, and a green LED indicator will illuminate. If the internal battery is not fully charged, the UPS will automatically begin charging, and the green LED will flash to indicate the charging status. Once the UPS is powered and charging, connect the DC output connector (C) to the loads that require protection. This setup ensures that the connected devices are protected by the UPS unit, receiving continuous power even if the main utility power is interrupted.

On/Off Button Operation:

The UPS is designed for automatic operation. When plugged into a wall outlet under normal utility conditions, it will automatically turn on. The Restart/Off Button (A) serves multiple purposes. If the UPS enters a fault mode, pressing this button allows for a restart of the unit. In situations where the UPS is operating on battery power and the user wishes to conserve battery life, pressing and holding the button for 5 seconds will shut down the UPS. Additionally, if utility power is unavailable and the battery is fully charged, this button can be used to manually turn on the UPS.

LED Indication:

The device features a two-color LED indicator (B) that provides clear feedback on its operational status.

  • Green On: This status indicates that the UPS is powered on and the battery is fully charged.
  • Green Steady Flash: This signifies that the UPS is powered on and the battery is currently charging.
  • Green Quick Flash: This indicates that the UPS is on, but a power failure has occurred. The UPS has transferred to DC mode, and the battery is discharging to power the connected loads.
  • Red On: A red LED indicates that a fault has occurred within the UPS.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting:

The LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter includes several features to aid in troubleshooting common issues.

  • Red LED is On: If the red LED is illuminated, it typically indicates an overload or a short circuit on the UPS. In this scenario, the UPS transfers to fault mode. To resolve this, press and hold the Restart/Off Button (A) for more than 1 second and then release it to restart the unit.
  • Shorter Battery Backup Time: If the battery backup time is significantly shorter than expected, it suggests that the battery charge is too low. In such cases, it is recommended to contact your dealer to replace the special battery.
  • No Output and LED Indicator Off: If there is no output from the UPS and the LED indicator is not on, it points to an internal fault. Users should contact their dealer for assistance.

Safety Warnings and Best Practices:

To ensure safe and optimal operation of the LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter, several safety guidelines must be followed:

  • Environmental Conditions: Do NOT place the unit in hot or humid environments, as this can affect its performance and lifespan.
  • Disassembly: Do NOT attempt to disassemble the product. Disassembly can lead to damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
  • Battery Management: If the battery level is low, it is crucial to recharge the battery immediately to maintain its health and readiness.
  • Battery Replacement: When installing or replacing a new battery, ensure that the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are correctly connected. Incorrect connection can damage the DC UPS.
  • Battery Type: Always replace the Lithium-ion battery with the same type as specified in the product specifications to ensure compatibility and safe operation.

By adhering to these usage and maintenance guidelines, users can ensure the longevity and reliable performance of their LA-ON-DC UPS Adapter, providing consistent power protection for their critical DC-powered devices.
