To construct with Laser Pegs®, slide two pieces together to form a
connection. Slide each piece on and o smoothly. The 90° Pegs are
essential to construction but they DO NOT LIGHT UP.
Connecting Pegs
WARNING! Each Laser Peg® draws current from the batteries. Therefore, the more
pegs you use, the quicker you will deplete your battery power! As the power
weakens, the current will slowly fail and some Laser Pegs® will illuminate (typically
the reds and yellows) and some wont. When the Laser Pegs® dim the Laser Pegs®
are not broken, they just need stronger batteries or an AC Adapter.
You have 3 simple options...
1. Use a 5-volt AC Adapter –available from www.LaserPegs.com
2. Change the batteries.
3. Use high quality batteries. They will last a little longer, but they will still deplete
rapidly the more laser pegs you connect!
Using an
AC Adapter
Remove all batteries
from Laser Pegs® power
base before using the
5-volt AC adapter.
When using an AC
Adapter, NEVER
place the adapter
plug into the Tri-
angle Power Base
top peg holes.
*To avoid short-circuits, keep metal objects and
other unauthorized materials from obstructing
the peg holes.
The AC adapter and the Triangle Power Base are to be regularly examined for
damage to the cord, plug, enclosure and other parts, and in the event of such
damage, they must not be used until the damage has been repaired.
Never connect more than 200
Laser Pegs® when using a 5-volt
(2000mA) AC Adapter.
Please dispose of batteries properly as per state and local regulations.
1. Remove the three (3) screws.
2. Place three (3) AA batteries in the correct
position - as displayed inside the Triangle
Power Base.
3. Reassemble the Triangle Power Base.
4. Replace the three (3) screws.
5. Push RED Power Button to turn on!
6. Do not mix old and new batteries.
7. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium,
NiMH) batteries!
8. Exhausted batteries are to be removed
from the Triangle Power Base.
9. Never connect more than 200 Laser Pegs®
10. Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be
recharged.
11. Rechargeable batteries are only to be
recharged under adult supervision.
12. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed
from the toy before being recharged.
13. Batteries are to be inserted with the
correct polarity.
14. The supply terminals are not to be short-
circuited.
15. DO NOT THROW BATTERIES INTO FIRE!
Replacing Batteries
Environmental Phenomena
* The unit may malfunction if subjected to radio-frequency interference. It SHOULD revert to
normal operation when the interference stops. If not, it may become necessary to turn the power
o and back on, or remove and reinstall the batteries.
* In the unlikely event of an electrostatic discharge, the unit may malfunction and lose memory,
requiring the user to reset the devise by removing and reinstalling the batteries.

Overview

The Laser Pegs G1670B Cargo Plane is an illuminated construction toy designed for children aged 5 and up, offering the ability to build 12 distinct models or any creation imaginable. This set combines traditional construction play with the added feature of light, bringing creations to life.

Function Description:

The core function of the Laser Pegs G1670B Cargo Plane set is to provide an engaging and creative building experience. Users connect various construction parts and Laser Pegs to form structures, which then illuminate when connected to the Triangle Power Base. The Laser Pegs themselves contain internal circuit boards that light up when power is supplied, adding a dynamic visual element to the constructed models. The set encourages imaginative play, problem-solving, and fine motor skill development as children follow instructions or design their own creations. The "Cargo Plane" theme provides a specific model to build, but the versatility of the parts allows for endless possibilities.

Usage Features:

  • Illuminated Construction: The primary feature is the ability to build models that light up. Laser Pegs, which are transparent or translucent, contain LEDs that illuminate when properly connected to the power base. This creates a visually appealing effect, especially in dim lighting.
  • Modular Connecting System: The construction system relies on a modular design where pieces slide together to form connections. This intuitive method allows for easy assembly and disassembly, making it accessible for young builders. The manual specifically notes that 90° Pegs are essential for construction but do not light up, indicating a mix of functional and aesthetic pieces.
  • Triangle Power Base: This central component serves as the power source for the illuminated Laser Pegs. It requires three AA batteries (not included) or can be powered by an optional 5-volt AC adapter (available separately). The power base features a red power button that cycles through four different light settings: sound/on, flash, and flash faster. This allows users to customize the lighting effects of their creations. The sound-activated setting adds an interactive dimension, as the lights can respond to ambient sounds.
  • Multiple Model Instructions: The set includes an instruction manual for building the Cargo Plane model. Additionally, the manual states that "all additional model instructions can be downloaded at www.LaserPegs.com," expanding the play value and offering a wider range of building challenges. This digital resource encourages continued engagement with the product.
  • Compatibility: The Laser Pegs system is designed to be compatible, meaning pieces from different Laser Pegs sets can often be combined, further enhancing creative possibilities and the scale of potential builds.
  • Durability and Safety: The product is designed to be compliant with safety standards such as EN71 and RoHS, and ASTM F963, indicating it has undergone testing for safety. The warning about small parts and choking hazard for children under 3 years old is clearly stated, as is the caution against submerging the device in water.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: The manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions for replacing the three AA batteries in the Triangle Power Base. This includes removing three Phillips head screws, placing batteries in the correct position, and reassembling the base. Specific warnings are given regarding battery usage, such as not mixing old and new batteries, not mixing different types of batteries (alkaline, standard, rechargeable), and ensuring correct polarity. Exhausted batteries are to be removed promptly.
  • AC Adapter Usage: For continuous play or to conserve batteries, the set can be powered by an optional 5-volt AC adapter. The manual explicitly instructs users to remove all batteries from the power base before using the AC adapter to prevent potential issues. It also warns against placing the adapter plug into the top peg holes of the Triangle Power Base.
  • Care and Inspection: The manual advises regular examination of the AC adapter and Triangle Power Base for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure, and other parts. In the event of damage, it states that the components should not be used until repaired, emphasizing safety and longevity of the product.
  • Troubleshooting for Malfunctions: The manual addresses potential malfunctions due to environmental phenomena, such as radio-frequency interference or electrostatic discharge. It suggests that the unit should revert to normal operation when interference stops, or that users may need to turn the power off and on, or remove and reinstall batteries to reset the device. This provides basic troubleshooting guidance for common electronic toy issues.
  • Battery Depletion Awareness: The manual explains that the more Laser Pegs connected, the quicker the batteries will deplete. It clarifies that dimming lights do not indicate broken Laser Pegs but rather a need for stronger batteries or an AC adapter. This helps users understand the product's behavior and offers solutions: using an AC adapter, changing batteries, or using high-quality batteries.
  • Proper Disposal: Users are instructed to dispose of batteries properly according to state and local regulations, promoting environmental responsibility.
  • Contact Information: The manual includes contact information for customer support ("Laser Pegs® CARES") via a toll-free number and an email address, allowing users to seek assistance for questions, comments, or compliance information. This ensures ongoing support for product users.
