Overview

The Lazer Impala helmet is a protective gear designed for cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding, conforming to strict international safety standards. It features an action camera mount and an adjustable visor, enhancing its functionality and user experience.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Lazer Impala helmet is to provide head protection during sports activities such as cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding. It is designed to absorb shock through the partial destruction of its shell and liner in the event of an impact, thereby reducing the seriousness of head injuries. The helmet is retained by a strap under the lower jaw, ensuring it stays securely in place during use.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific material compositions are not detailed, the helmet's design emphasizes shock absorption through its shell and liner. It is designed to fit correctly and comfortably, allowing for adjustments to ensure proper positioning without obstructing vision or exposing the forehead. The helmet is not intended for use with mopeds or any other type of motorized sport.

Usage Features:

Action Camera Mount Installation:

The helmet comes with an action camera mount compatible with standard GoPro mounting systems, allowing users to attach cameras or lights.

  1. Positioning: The mount is positioned on the center vent hole, second from the front, with an arrow on the bottom of the mount facing forward.
  2. First Strap Insertion: A Velcro strap is fed through the center vent hole, second from the front, and then back up through the next vent hole.
  3. Strap Fastening: The strap is then fed back through the mount, doubled back, and the Velcro pads are fastened.
  4. Repeat for Other Side: Steps 1-3 are repeated for the other side to secure the mount.

Adjustable Visor:

The Impala helmet features an adjustable visor that can be set in three different positions, allowing users to customize it based on their preference.

  1. Loosening the Visor: To adjust the visor, the visor bolts are loosened by turning them counter-clockwise. This can be done using a small coin, a large flat-head screwdriver, or a similar blunt object.
  2. Positioning the Visor: Once loosened, the visor can be moved to the desired position.
  3. Tightening the Visor: After positioning, the bolts are re-tightened by turning them clockwise to secure the visor.

General Use and Safety Guidelines:

  • Impact Protection: The helmet is designed to reduce the seriousness of injuries but cannot protect against all possible impacts.
  • Correct Fit: For effectiveness, the helmet must fit correctly and be worn properly. Users should place the helmet on their head, make any necessary adjustments, and securely fasten the retention system. The helmet should be comfortable and should not move forward to obscure vision or backward to expose the forehead when grasped and rotated.
  • Attachments: No attachments should be made to the helmet unless recommended by the helmet manufacturer.
  • Damage: If the helmet is subjected to a severe blow, it should be destroyed and replaced, even if visible damage is not apparent, as its shock-absorbing capability may be compromised.
  • Chemical Exposure: The helmet may be damaged and rendered ineffective by petroleum products, cleaning agents, paints, adhesives, and similar substances, even if the damage is not visible to the user.
  • Lifespan: The helmet has a limited lifespan and should be replaced when it shows obvious signs of wear.
  • Child Safety: This helmet should not be used by children while climbing or engaging in other activities where there is a risk of hanging or strangulation if the child gets trapped while wearing the helmet.
  • Intended Use: The helmet is specifically designed for cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding.

Maintenance Features:

The manual implicitly suggests that the helmet's effectiveness can be compromised by certain substances, indicating that care should be taken to avoid exposure to petroleum and petroleum products, cleaning agents, paints, and adhesives. While explicit cleaning instructions are not provided, the emphasis on avoiding damaging substances implies a need for careful maintenance to preserve the helmet's integrity and protective capabilities. Regular inspection for signs of wear is also recommended, prompting replacement when necessary. For more detailed maintenance instructions, users are directed to refer to the owner's manual included with the helmet.
