Do you have a question about the LAUMAS W200-MU and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Microlectra W200 is a versatile weighing instrument available in various configurations, including a DIN box for panel mounting (W200), an IP67 waterproof ABS box (W200BOX), and an IP67 waterproof polycarbonate box (W200 IP67). It is designed for industrial weighing applications, offering robust performance and a range of connectivity options.

Function Description

The W200 series functions primarily as a weight indicator, capable of connecting to load cells and displaying weight readings. It supports both theoretical and real calibration, allowing for precise weight measurements. The instrument features a semi-alphanumeric display, LED indicators, and a 5-key membrane keypad for user interaction. It can be integrated into larger systems via serial communication (RS485 and RS232) and offers optional outputs for control and data transfer. Key functions include:

  • Weight Display: Shows current weight readings, with options for gross, net, and tare values.
  • Calibration: Supports theoretical calibration by setting full scale and sensitivity, and real calibration using sample weights.
  • Tare Functions: Includes semi-automatic tare and preset tare for subtracting container weights.
  • Zero Setting: Allows for zeroing the weight, including automatic zero setting at power-on and zero tracking for small variations.
  • Setpoint Programming: Enables the configuration of setpoints for control applications, with various output modes (de-energised, energised, set, PLC, stable).
  • Filtering: Provides a filter function to stabilize weight readings in environments with vibrations or disturbances.
  • Peak Detection: Captures and displays the maximum weight value reached.
  • Analog Output: Offers an optional analog signal (4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-10 V, 0-5 V, ±10 V, ±5 V) proportional to the weight.
  • Serial Communication: Facilitates data exchange with PCs, PLCs, remote displays, and printers using ASCII Laumas or ModBus R.T.U. protocols. Optional integrated Profibus DP, DeviceNet, CANopen, Profinet IO, Ethernet/IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, and Modbus/TCP outputs are available.
  • Date and Time Setting: Includes a real-time clock/calendar with a buffer battery.
  • Menu Locking/Unlocking: Provides security features to restrict access to certain menu settings.
  • Data Deletion and Program Selection: Allows for advanced configuration and program management, typically requiring technical assistance.

Usage Features

The W200 is designed for ease of use while offering extensive configuration capabilities.

  • User Interface: The 5-key membrane keypad and semi-alphanumeric display allow for intuitive navigation through menus and settings. LEDs provide quick status indications.
  • Calibration Flexibility: Users can perform theoretical calibration by inputting load cell specifications or conduct real calibration using known sample weights for higher accuracy.
  • Tare and Zero Management: Semi-automatic tare simplifies the process of subtracting container weights, while preset tare allows for predefined tare values. Automatic zero setting and zero tracking ensure accurate readings even with minor environmental changes.
  • Setpoint Control: The instrument can be configured to trigger external devices based on weight thresholds, making it suitable for automated processes.
  • Filtering for Stability: The adjustable filter helps in obtaining stable weight readings in challenging environments prone to vibrations.
  • Connectivity: Multiple serial ports and optional communication protocols ensure compatibility with a wide range of industrial control systems and peripheral devices.
  • Buffer Battery: The internal battery maintains the real-time clock, preventing data loss during power outages.
  • Security: Menu locking prevents unauthorized changes to critical settings.

Maintenance Features

  • Buffer Battery Charging: At first start or after long periods of inactivity, the instrument should be left on for at least 12 hours to fully charge the internal buffer battery.
  • Load Cell Resistance Measurement: Regular checks of load cell resistance and insulation are recommended to ensure proper functioning and detect potential issues like condensation or water infiltration. A multimeter can be used for this purpose.
  • Load Cell Voltage Measurement: Verifying the excitation voltage and signal wires helps in diagnosing load cell problems.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on identifying and correcting common problems, including error codes for communication issues, load cell connection, and display errors.
  • Technical Assistance: For complex operations like data deletion, program selection, or specific technical issues, contacting technical assistance is advised.
  • Environmental Considerations: Recommendations include keeping the instrument away from heat sources and direct sunlight, protecting it from rain, and avoiding spills of liquids or solvents.
  • Earthing: Proper earthing of the weighed structure is crucial to discharge electrostatic charges and protect the load cells and instrument from damage.
  • Disposal: The device should not be disposed of with general household waste but through designated collection points for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
