Do you have a question about the LAZBOY 1800 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The La-Z-Boy Power Pack 1800 is a lithium-ion rechargeable battery designed to provide mains-independent power for electro-motorically adjustable applications, such as recliners or sofas. It serves as a power supply in case of power failure, ensuring continued operation of the adjustable furniture.

Function Description:

The Power Pack 1800 acts as a portable energy source, allowing users to operate their adjustable furniture without being tethered to a wall outlet. It is charged using a specific power supply, the PD21, which converts AC power to the DC voltage required for charging the battery. Once charged, the Power Pack 1800 can deliver power to the furniture's actuator system, enabling adjustments. The device incorporates several safety and operational features, including protection against short circuits, overcurrent, and deep discharge. An acoustic warning signal alerts users when the battery charge is low, prompting them to recharge the unit. An optical charge level indicator, consisting of red and green LEDs, provides visual feedback on the charging status and battery level.

  • Power Supply (PD21):
    • Input: 100-240V AC, 50-60 Hz, 1.6 A
    • Output: 29 V DC, 2 A

Usage Features:

  • Mains-Independent Operation: Provides freedom from power outlets for adjustable furniture.
  • Low Self-Discharge Rate: Helps maintain charge over longer periods when not in use.
  • Safety Protections: Includes short circuit proofing, overcurrent switch-off, and deep-discharge protection to ensure safe operation and prolong battery life.
  • Acoustic Warning: An audible signal indicates when the battery charge is critically low (≤ 23 V), prompting the user to recharge. This signal is active only when the drive is moving.
  • Optical Charge Level Indicator:
    • Red LED (flashing): Battery is charging.
    • Green LED (on): Battery is fully charged.
    • Green LED (off): Battery is discharged or charging circuit is in standby.
  • Mounting Plates: Designed for easy integration and secure attachment to the furniture.
  • Commissioning: The device should be fully charged before first use to achieve maximum capacity. It may require several charge/discharge cycles after long storage periods to restore optimal performance.
  • Operating Environment: Best performance is achieved at normal room temperatures (18 °C to 25 °C), with an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 40 °C.
  • Compatibility: Must be used with a PD21 Power Supply or a power supply with compatible connections and identical technical specifications for charging.
  • Simultaneous Operation and Charging: The system can be operated/moved while it is being charged.

Maintenance Features:

  • Maintenance-Free Design: The Power Pack 1800 itself requires minimal maintenance.
  • Cleaning: Clean as needed using a dry, antistatic cloth. It is crucial to unplug all connecting cables before cleaning. Avoid automated washing systems, high-pressure cleaners, and do not allow fluids to penetrate the lighting or use cleansers containing benzene, alcohol, or similar solvents.
  • Recharging During Storage: To maintain battery performance and capability, the Power Pack 1800 should be recharged at least every six months, and no longer than six months after the date of manufacture.
  • Storage Recommendations: If the sofa/chair is not used for an extended period, disconnect the Power Pack 1800 from the control unit/drive system and the mains supply to prevent charge loss. Improper storage can reduce performance or damage the battery beyond repair.
  • Troubleshooting: A dedicated section in the manual provides guidance for common issues such as the handset not operating, the chair/sofa not responding, or the unit being discharged. Users are advised to contact their supplier/dealer for issues not covered or if the protective circuit is suspected to be defective (e.g., if the unit becomes very hot during charging).
  • Disposal: The Power Pack 1800 contains electronic components, cables, metal, and plastic parts. It must be disposed of according to national and regional environmental regulations, specifically not with normal household waste, in compliance with directives like EU Directive 2012/19/EC (WEEE).
