How to fix no spark at the pilot light on my Legacy (F) Heater?
    • A
      Andrew RomeroAug 16, 2025
If there is no spark at the ODS pilot when you try to ignite your Legacy Heater, the ignitor electrode might be positioned wrong. Reposition the ignitor electrode. The ignitor electrode might be broken, so replace the electrode. Check if the ignitor cable is pinched or broken; free the cable, and if damaged, replace it. Also, verify the ignitor cable is connected to the ignitor electrode; if not, connect the cable to the electrode.

    • D
      David DavisAug 18, 2025
If you smell gas when the control knob of your Legacy Heater is in the OFF position, it could be due to gas leaks or a defective gas control. It is important to locate and correct any leaks immediately or consider replacing the gas control.

Why does my Legacy (F) Heater smell like gas when it's burning?
    • K
      kmortonAug 22, 2025
If your Legacy Heater smells like gas during combustion, the cause could be foreign matter in the gas or on the burner ports, the heater burning vapors from paint or impurities in the air, or gas leaks. Check the gas passageway and burner, ventilate the room and stop storing odor-causing products near the heater, and locate and correct any leaks immediately.

Why does the pilot light go out when I release the knob on my Legacy (F)?
    • J
      juliewilsonAug 25, 2025
If the ODS pilot light on your Legacy Heater lights but the flame goes out when you release the control knob, ensure you keep the control knob pressed in for about 30 seconds after the pilot lights. The safety interlock might be triggered, so wait one minute and try the ignition operation again. Other potential issues include a damaged thermocouple (replace it) or a loose thermocouple connection at the gas control valve (hand tighten until snug, then tighten 1/4 turn with a wrench).

What to do if my Legacy (F) Heater has a spark but won't ignite?
    • C
      Craig LynchAug 28, 2025
If your Legacy Heater has a spark but no ignition, first ensure the gas supply is turned on and the control knob is in the pilot position and pressed in. If there is air in the gas lines, purge them and repeat the ignition operation.
