Overview

The Leisurewize PortawashPLUS (LWACC421) is a portable twin-drum wash/spin washing machine designed primarily for use by caravan, motorhome, and camping holidaymakers, though it can also serve as a spare washing machine in a household with suitable water inlet and outlet. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easier to move and saves space compared to conventional twin-tub washing machines.

Function Description:

The PortawashPLUS features two separate drums: a wash drum and a spin drum. It offers both washing and spinning capabilities, allowing users to complete a full laundry cycle. The wash drum incorporates an innovative water flow inlet and a large wave pulsator, designed to reduce clothes twisting during the wash and provide a more effective cleaning action. This design also aims to save time, water, and labor. The machine offers two wash settings, "Gentle" and "Normal," catering to different fabric types. The wash cycle can be set for up to 15 minutes, and the spin cycle for up to 5 minutes. Ergonomically designed handles facilitate easy maneuverability.

Usage Features:

Setting up the PortawashPLUS involves removing it from its packaging, positioning it on a flat surface near a water source and drainage, and connecting the provided water inlet hose to the machine's inlet (4) and a water tap. An adaptor (not included) may be required for a secure fit to the tap. The machine then connects to a 230V mains power supply.

To operate, users first fill the wash drum (6) with water to an appropriate level, depending on the clothing type and weight. The wash setting ("Gentle" or "Normal") is selected using the wash & drain selector knob (11). Clothes are then placed into the wash drum, and the water level can be adjusted if necessary by briefly turning the wash selector/drain knob to drain and then back to the chosen setting. The appropriate amount of detergent is added, and the lid is closed. The wash cycle begins by setting the wash timer knob (10) to the desired duration. Once washing is complete, the wash selector/drain knob (11) is turned to drain all water from the wash drum (note: extra force may be needed for this action).

For rinsing, clothes are wrung out if necessary, and the wash drum is refilled with clean water. The wash process is repeated without detergent to remove any remaining suds. After rinsing, the water is drained.

For spinning, the water inlet hose is removed from the washer inlet (4). Clothes are transferred from the wash drum (6) to the spin drum (2), wrung out again if excessively wet, and the removable spin cap (1) is placed on top of the clothes. The spin timer knob (12) is then set to the desired duration to start the spin cycle. The rinse and spin process can be repeated if needed.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Always turn timer knobs (wash timer & spin timer) clockwise.
  • Never exceed a washing temperature of 50°C to avoid damaging plastic components.
  • Stop and turn off the machine immediately if abnormal sounds or movements occur.
  • Keep washing detergent away from young children.
  • Do not allow young children near the machine when in use.
  • Never put hands in the spin drum when it is operating.
  • Avoid washing textiles with volatile materials to prevent damage or blockages.
  • Do not place the machine near heat-generating items.
  • Do not use the machine outdoors or in damp areas like bathrooms.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the machine.

Maintenance Features:

The PortawashPLUS is designed for long life, and proper maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  • After use, always disconnect or switch off the mains power supply.
  • When cleaning, use a soft cloth with an appropriate disinfectant or cleaning solution.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the washing machine.

Troubleshooting:

Most troubleshooting issues can be self-rectified. For technical issues requiring part removal or replacement, professional assistance is recommended.

  • Pulsator working slow: Check power, transmission belt, belt pulley, or for blockages. Solutions include switching on power, assembling the transmission belt, tightening the belt, or removing blockages.
  • Pulsator not rotating: Check for loose belt or blockages. Solutions include tightening/renewing the belt or removing blockages.
  • Abnormal noise/vibration: This is often due to unbalanced clothes in the spin dry tub or items jammed between the pulsator and tub. Solutions include replacing clothes in the tub or removing jammed items.
  • Water leaks from wash tub: Ensure the wash tub is tightly connected to the hose. Reconnect and tighten the hose.
  • Spin dry basket not rotating: Check for loose switch contact, loose fixed screw of spin dry basket/shaft coupling, or textile entwined around the shaft. Solutions include adjusting the contactor/switch, tightening the screw, or removing the textile. A loose brake dragline can also be tightened.
  • Spin tub not draining: This usually indicates something has dropped into the space between the spin tub and spin dry. The solution is to remove the object.

Warranty:

The product comes with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty covering technical faults from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover issues caused by accidental damage or wear and tear. For warranty queries, customers should contact the retailer where the product was purchased.
