Thecomputeristurnedon.
Thebatteryorbatteriesinstalledinthewirelesskeyboardormouseareingood
condition.
Thewirelesscongurationsareallsetcorrectly.Youmightneedtoreferto
thedocumentationthatcomewiththewirelesskeyboardormouse,orrefer
toyourWindowsHelpandSupportinformationsystemforwirelessrelated
instructions.Ifyourwirelessmousehasadongle,makesurethedongleis
correctlyconnectedtooneoftheUSBconnectorsonthecomputer.
Forthewirelesskeyboard,nokeysarestuck.
Thewirelessmouseisclean.
Theoperatingsystemdoesnot
start.
Verifythat:
Thestartupsequenceincludesthedevicewheretheoperatingsystemresides.

Thecomputerbeepsmultiple
timesbeforetheoperating
systemstarts.
Verifythatnokeysarestuck.
Troubleshootingprocedure
Usethefollowingprocedureasastartingpointfordiagnosingproblemsyouareexperiencingwithyour
computer:
1.Verifythatthecablesforallattacheddevicesareconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
2.Verifythatallattacheddevicesthatrequireacpowerareconnectedtoproperlygrounded,functioning
electricaloutlets.
3.VerifythatallattacheddevicesareenabledintheBIOSsettingsofyourcomputer.Formoreinformation
aboutaccessingandchangingtheBIOSsettings,refertoyourChapter7“UsingtheSetupUtility
program”onpage45.
4.Gotothe“Troubleshooting”onpage57andfollowtheinstructionsforthetypeofproblemyouare
experiencing.IftheTroubleshootinginformationdoesnothelpyouresolveaproblem,continuewiththe
nextstep.
5.Tryusingapreviouslycapturedcongurationtoseeifarecentchangetohardwareorsoftwaresettings
hascausedaproblem.Beforerestoringapreviousconguration,captureyourcurrentcongurationin
casetheoldercongurationsettingsdonotsolvetheproblemorhaveadverseaffects.Torestorea
capturedconguration,clickStartControlPanelSystemandSecuritySystemSystem
ProtectionSystemRestore.Ifthisdoesnotcorrecttheproblem,continuewiththenextstep.
6.Runthediagnosticprograms.See“Diagnosticprograms”onpage71formoreinformation.
