Note:PowermanagementmodesarenotsupportedforAPMoperatingsystem.
Toreducepowerconsumption,thecomputerhasthreepowermanagement
modes:screenblank,sleep(standby),andshutdown.
Screen blank state
Ifthetimesetonthe“Turnoffmonitor”timerintheoperatingsystemexpires,
theLCDbacklightturnsoff.YoucanalsoturnofftheLCDbacklightby
pressing
Fn +F2.
Toendscreenblankstateandresumenormaloperation,pressanykey.
Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down
Whenyouhavenishedworkingwithyourcomputer,youcanputittosleepor
shutitdown.
Putting your computer to sleep
Ifyouwillbeawayfromyourcomputerforonlyashorttime,putthecomputerto
sleep.Whenthecomputerisinsleepmode,youcanquicklywakeittoresume
use,bypassingthestartupprocess.
Toputthecomputertosleep,dooneofthefollowing:
• Closethedisplaylid.
• PressthePowerbutton.
• Openthestartmenu,andthenselectPower


Sleep.
Attention:Waituntilthepowerindicatorlightstartsblinking(indicatingthat
thecomputerisinsleepmode)beforeyoumoveyourcomputer.Movingyour
computerwhile theharddiskisspinningcandamagetheharddisk,causing
lossofdata.
Towakethecomputer,dooneofthefollowing:
• Pressanykeyonthekeyboard.
• PressthePowerbutton.
Shutting down the computer
Ifyouarenotgoingtouseyourcomputerforalongtime,shutitdown.
Toshutdownthecomputer,dooneofthefollowing:
• Openthestartmenu,andthenselect Power


Shut down.
• Pressandholdorright-clicktheStartbuttoninthelower-leftcornerand
selectShut down or sign out
