For
work
on
overcoats
the
machine
must
be
fitted
with
presser
foot
13
73SA,
which
is
adapted
for
handling
heavy
materials.
71.
On
extra
fine
tailoring
we
recommend
using
special
presser
foot
405-1,
405-2
or
405-3.
These
feet
are
designed
to
raise
the
edge
of
the
piping
sufficient
to
entirely
cover
the
needle
thread
under
the
piping,
which
otherwise
may
be
visible
on
close
examina-
tion.
Foot
405-l
is
used
for
work
on
sack
coats
and
light
overcoats;
foot
405-2
is
used
for
work
on
heavy
overcoats,
and
foot
405-3
is
used
for
medium
and
medium
heavy
work.

are
adjusted
at
the
factory
for
properl-y
feeding
all
kinds
and
weights
of
material
which
they
are
designed
to
handle.
However,
there
may
be
occasion
when
extremely
heavy
overcoats
are
to
be
handled,
garments
made
with
thick
cumber-
some
seams
or
extremely
heavy
pockets
and
reinforcements
to
pass
over,
which
requires
a
slight
raising
of
the
feed
point,

On
this
class
of
work
the
operator
may
find
it
necessary
to
assist
the
work
through
the
machine
by
drawing
the
goods
from
the
back,
and
if
considerable
heavy
work
is
to
be
handled
for
any
length
of
time
it
is
advisable
to
raise
the
feed
point
slightly.

74.
To
do
this,
turn
the
machine
back
on
the
tabie,
turn
hand
wheel
away
from
you
until
the
feed
plate
rests
against
the
bottom
of
the
foot.
Continue
turning
the
hand
wheel
slowly
until
the
feed
point
has
receded
to
its
lowest
position.

and
raise
feed
point
very
slightly,
not
more
than
1/32
of
an
inch.
Retighten

If
feed
point
is
set
too
high,
the
top
of
the
feed
elevating
link

will
strike
against
feed
plate,
which
in
turn
will
retard
the
movement
of
the
goods.
