order

to

obtain

the

proper

depth

of

needle

penetration,

after

adjusting

machine

for

straight

felling

stitch,

place

a

single

thick-

ness

of

the

goods

to

be

felled

under

the

presser

foot.

Turn

hand

wheel

away

from

you

slowly

and

watch

the

action

of

the

needle

as

it

pene-

trates

the

cloth.

The

needle

should

enter

the

goods

sufficient

to

only

· .

pick

up

a

few

strands

of

the

material

and

not

penetrate

deep

enough

to

show

an

impression

on

the

under

side

or

facing

side

of

the

goods.

If

the

needle

passes

over

the

goods

and

does

not

make

proper

penetra-

tion,
