Overview

The Lewmar Axis™ Shallow Water Anchor is a marine device designed for anchoring vessels in shallow water. It is available in white (Part # 2022108804) and black (Part # 2022108805) for aftermarket applications. The system allows for quick and secure anchoring by deploying a spike into the waterway's bed.

Function Description:

The Lewmar Axis™ Shallow Water Anchor provides a convenient and efficient way to anchor a boat in shallow water. It operates by extending a spike from the transom of the vessel into the seafloor, securing the boat in place. The anchor can be controlled remotely via a remote control or directly from a hard-mounted switch on the RF module. The system offers both momentary and latching functionality for deployment and retraction. In momentary mode, the anchor extends or retracts as long as the switch is depressed. In latching mode, a single press and release of the button initiates deployment or retraction, and the system automatically stops when sufficient contact with the seafloor is made or when fully retracted. The anchor is designed to sense when it reaches the seafloor or full extraction, momentarily cutting power to the motor to prevent damage. A 5-second delay may occur before the system responds to another input in latching mode.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Source: 12 Volt DC.
  • Battery Requirement: A 12 Volt battery with 55 cold cranking amps is recommended, providing approximately 400 cycles per charge.
  • Mounting: Designed for transom mounting, but optional mounts such as jack plate, engine, dovetail, pontoon, and universal mounts are available.
  • Mounting Hardware: Includes 3/8" x 1 1/2" O.D. SS washers, 3/8" x 1" O.D. SS washers, 3/8" locking brass nuts, 3/8" x 3" hex head SS screws, #6 x 3/4" SLFTP SS screws, and 7/32" hex wrenches.
  • RF Module: The radio frequency (RF) module facilitates wireless control and requires a 12V power source connection (preferably to a battery switch to minimize power draw when not in use).
  • Electrical Wiring: All electrical wiring harnesses must be loomed, secured, and installed in accordance with ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) Electrical Standards, E11 and S31.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control Operation: The anchor can be operated using a remote control for convenience.
  • RF Module Switch: A hard-mounted switch on the RF module provides an alternative control point.
  • Momentary Mode: Anchor extends/retracts only while the control switch is held down.
  • Latching Mode: A single press of the control switch initiates full deployment or retraction, with the system automatically stopping at the appropriate point.
  • Automatic Shut-off: In latching mode, the system senses contact with the seafloor or full retraction and momentarily cuts power to the motor to prevent damage.
  • Manual Override: In case of power loss, the anchor can be manually retracted by disconnecting the Deutsch plug, removing two 3/8" button head screws securing the actuator dowel, and then manually pulling the anchor up.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not allow children to operate or tamper with the anchor unsupervised.
    • Keep hands and loose clothing away from moving parts.
    • Always disconnect the 12 Volt power source before servicing.
    • Ensure the anchor is fully retracted and stowed before operating the boat, trailering, or traveling.
    • Do not use the anchor as assistance for entering or exiting the vessel.
    • Never leave the boat unattended with the anchor as the primary anchorage.
    • Do not perform installation while the boat is in water.
    • Clear debris from the anchor only after disconnecting the 12 Volt power source.

Maintenance Features:

  • Electrical Connection Inspection: Inspect all electrical connections every three months to ensure they are secure and free of corrosion.
  • Fastener Tightness: Inspect all fasteners for proper tightness after every 100 cycles of use. Tighten loose fasteners and replace damaged ones immediately.
  • Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse all moving parts with fresh water after each use.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate the bushings at both the mounting bracket and knuckle hinge points with spray lithium grease every six months.
  • Battery Check: Check the vessel's battery power level before boating and maintain it at maximum level.
  • RF Module Power-off: Power off the RF Module via a battery switch when the vessel is stored to prevent negligible power draw.
  • Debris Removal: Regularly check for and remove any debris caught around the anchor, always disconnecting the 12 Volt power source first.
  • Component Replacement: Replace electronic motor if failure occurs by contacting Lippert Customer Care Center.
  • Genuine Accessories: Only use genuine Axis Shallow Water Anchor accessories to avoid voiding the warranty and potential product damage.

Warranty Coverage:

  • Spike: Lifetime warranty.
  • Powder Coat: Six months against cracking, chipping, and fading.
  • Linkage Arms, Mounting Bracket, and Knuckle: 60 months.
  • Spike Holder and Bushing: 12 months.
  • Hardware: 12 months.
  • Remote and RF Module: 12 months.
  • Warranty Claims: The serial number on the product label is required for all warranty claims.
