Do you have a question about the LG 27LX5QKNA and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document serves as the Owner's Manual for an LG Display, model 27LX5QKNA, providing essential safety information, setup instructions, and operational guidance. It is designed to ensure safe and effective use of the product.

Function Description

The LG Display is a versatile electronic device designed for visual output, featuring a built-in battery for portable use without a constant external power supply. It incorporates a touch screen for intuitive interaction and can connect to various external devices via HDMI and USB. The product is designed to be movable and adjustable, allowing for changes in display orientation and height. It also includes an IR Blaster for controlling compatible external devices.

Usage Features

Setup and Initial Use: Upon unboxing, the product should be placed on a flat surface with the LG logo facing upwards. For the first use, the AC power cable needs to be connected. The power terminal is located inside a cover on the right side at the back of the product. To access it, the upper part of the locking mechanism at the front of the product must be pulled to unlock and lift the top cover. After connecting the power cable, the display can be raised upwards and rotated clockwise to its desired position. The accessory cover at the bottom of the display can be lifted to store the power cord. A battery switch on the back of the product, located under the terminal cover, should be checked; setting it to the "on" direction enables battery use. An accessory tray is provided for storing the remote control and mounting a phone.

Operating the Product: The display can be operated using both physical buttons and the touch screen.

  • Physical Buttons: The product features volume adjustment buttons and a power button. A short press of the power button turns the product on, while a long press shuts down all functions and turns off the screen. The power can also be turned on and off by opening and closing the case.
  • Touch Screen: The touch screen supports various gestures:
    • Tap: Lightly touching the screen.
    • Tap and hold: Touching the screen for 2 seconds or longer.
    • Scroll: Moving the screen up, down, left, or right.
    • Drag: Tapping and holding an item (e.g., an app or widget) and moving it to a desired location.
    • Pinch-Close/Pinch-Open: Using two fingers to zoom in or out on an app by spreading them apart or bringing them together. Touch functions like zooming may vary depending on the app. It's recommended to tap lightly and avoid pressing too hard, especially when wearing gloves or using fingernails, as this may affect accuracy. Moisture on the screen can also impair touch sensor functionality.

Battery Management: The product includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, allowing for portable use. The remaining battery level is displayed as a percentage on the upper right corner of the screen. In standby mode, a green/red LED indicates charging status when connected to the power cord. The battery takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge in standby mode and about 4 hours while in use. For optimal battery life, it is advised to charge the battery after a certain period of use rather than keeping it fully charged, and maintaining a 50% charge level helps extend its lifespan. The battery operation switch on the back of the product should be turned to the "off" direction when not in use for extended periods or during movement to prevent discharge. The product can only be used in battery mode when this switch is "on"; otherwise, it uses external power.

Connectivity: The display supports connections to external devices:

  • HDMI: For connecting Blu-ray players, HD receivers, DVD players, soundbars, and game consoles. It is crucial to turn off and unplug both the display and external devices before connecting HDMI cables. Certified HDMI cables with specific bezel dimensions are recommended to avoid display or connection errors.
  • USB: For connecting USB storage devices, PCs, and other USB devices. Some USB hubs may not work, so direct connection to the product's USB port is advised if issues arise. An extension cable supporting USB 2.0 may be needed if the USB cable or memory stick does not fit.
  • IR Blaster: This feature allows control of compatible external devices like set-top boxes, Blu-ray/DVD players, and soundbars. The IR Blaster cable should be connected to the product's IR Blaster port and secured with the provided 3M tape. It is essential not to plug headphones into the IR Blaster terminal.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: The product is not waterproof, so care must be taken during cleaning. The power cord should be unplugged, and the device wiped gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid spraying water or other liquids directly onto the product. Do not use chemical cleaners such as glass cleaner, air fresheners, insecticides, lubricants, wax, abrasives, thinners, benzene, or alcohol, as these can damage the product or its panel. If the fabric on the back of the product comes into contact with a foreign substance, it should be wiped off immediately with a clean wet tissue or cloth to prevent stains. When cleaning the screen, ensure that no liquid or foreign objects enter the gaps around the panel. Wring out any excess water or cleaner from the cloth before wiping.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues:

  • Remote Control Issues: Check for obstructions, ensure no tape is covering the receiver, and replace batteries if necessary.
  • No Image/Sound: Verify the product is on, the power cord is connected to a working outlet, and the battery switch is on (if using battery mode).
  • Sudden Shutdowns: Check power control settings, auto-off function, and ensure there is a signal. The product may also shut down to protect itself if the battery overheats.
  • Abnormal Display: Minor flickering upon startup when the product is cold is normal. The presence of tiny black or colored dots (pixels) on the panel is also normal for advanced displays and does not indicate a malfunction. Variations in brightness and color depending on viewing position are characteristic of the panel and not a malfunction. Avoid prolonged touching or holding the screen, as this can cause temporary distortion. Displaying still images for too long can cause image sticking, so fixed images should be avoided.
  • Generated Sound: Cracking noises due to thermal contraction of plastic are normal. A low-level humming or buzzing from the high-speed switching circuit is also normal and does not affect performance.
  • General Malfunction: If abnormal operation occurs, turn the battery switch off, unplug the power cord, and then plug it back in.

Battery Safety and Care: In case of liquid leakage from the battery, immediately stop using the product and avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, wash the area with sufficient water and seek medical advice. Dispose of batteries properly according to local guidelines to prevent explosion or fire. Avoid subjecting the product, especially the lithium battery, to shock, fire, electric heaters, or direct sunlight. When charging, ensure the battery is correctly inserted and use only genuine LG-approved adapters/batteries. Clean the charging terminal regularly. If the battery is completely discharged and unused for a long time, it may not charge normally or its life may be reduced. Do not disconnect, disassemble, or short-circuit the battery. Removing the battery from the product without contacting LG Electronics Service Center may result in electric shock, injury, or fire, and will void repair services or compensation. The battery may explode if disposed of in fire, crushed, or cut. Avoid exposing the battery to extremely high temperatures or low air pressure.

General Safety: To prevent fire, keep candles and open flames away from the product. Avoid placing the product in direct sunlight, high humidity areas, near heat sources, in areas exposed to steam or oil, rain or wind, or near flammable objects. Do not expose it to dripping or splashing liquids, and do not place liquid-filled objects on top of it. Ensure proper ventilation and avoid installing it in confined spaces or on carpets/cushions. Do not block ventilation openings. Protect the power cord from physical abuse and ensure it is securely connected. Unplug the product during lightning storms or when unused for long periods. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Do not modify the product without authorization from LG Electronics.

Moving the Product: Before moving, ensure the product is turned off, unplugged, and all cables are removed. It may require two or more people to carry larger products. Avoid pressing or stressing the front panel. Secure the product safely after loading to prevent damage from impact. Carrying the product with the case open may cause damage or injury. Ensure the lock is properly closed before moving. Keep packing materials out of reach of children. Avoid dropping objects onto the screen or applying strong pressure, which can cause damage.
