Maintenance Features

The service manual provides detailed instructions for technicians to perform various adjustments and troubleshooting steps, ensuring the proper functioning and safety of the device:

Safety Precautions: Emphasizes the importance of using an isolation transformer during servicing, replacing safety-related parts with specified components, maintaining proper resistor spacing (10mm for high wattage), keeping wires away from high voltage/temperature parts, and careful handling of the picture tube. It also includes warnings regarding X-RAY radiation and procedures for checking high voltage.
AC Leakage Current Check: Detailed steps for both cold and hot checks to ensure the set is safe to operate without electrical shock hazards.
Software Download: Instructions for connecting a JIG to the digital board, supplying power, and executing a program for software updates, including erasing and writing flash memory.
Adjustment Instructions:
- DVCO Adjustment: Adjusts the crystal oscillator frequency of the VCTP IC.
- Temporary Screen Voltage Adjustment: Adjusts screen volume to eliminate horizontal lines.
- Focus Adjustment: Involves adjusting lower and upper Focus volumes of the FBT (Flyback Transformer) for optimal vertical line focus.
- Purity & Convergence Adjustment: A multi-step process including CPT assembly, heat run, degaussing, STC pre-adjustment, purity adjustment (using red raster and magnets), and convergence adjustment (using cross hatch pattern and 4/6 pole magnets). This ensures accurate color display and geometric alignment.
- Screen Voltage Adjustment: Performed in no RF signal condition or with a digital pattern, adjusting screen volume until horizontal lines disappear.
- White Balance Adjustment: Utilizes a White Balance Meter (CRT Color Analyzer) and remote control to adjust RGB W-B mode, including R-Drive, G-Drive, B-Drive, R-Cutoff, G-Cutoff, and B-Cutoff, to achieve specified color coordinates (e.g., 13500K or 9000K).
- Deflection Data Adjustment: Manual adjustment of various parameters like Vertical Linearity (VL), Vertical Amplitude (VA), Vertical S Correction (SC), Vertical Shift (VS), Horizontal Shift (HS), East-West Horizontal Width (EW), BOW, ANG, East-West Parabola (EP), Upper Corner Correction (CRNU), and Lower Corner Correction (CRNL). These adjustments are crucial for geometric accuracy and picture linearity.
- OPTION Setting: Configures various functions based on the model, such as Text/Caption, VCTP, TOP/FLOF Text, ACMS, CH+AU, Boost, PIP, SYS, FMTRM, A2 ST, HDEV, VOL, WOOF, HPHON, SCART, WIDE, NCOMP, 3DCOM, BLUBK, XD, TILT-NOTE, C/PTV, AUTOCVG, 32 INCH, HOTEL, EYE, TBIDX, DGIDX, MOVE SPK, and Language settings.
Troubleshooting: Provides flowcharts for common issues like "No Picture (sound ok)", "No Sound (picture ok)", "No PIP", "No power", and "No raster". These guides direct technicians to check specific waveforms, voltages, and components (ICs, Qs, Tuner, Fuses, etc.) on the Main, Digital, and Power boards.
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Layouts: Includes detailed diagrams of the Main, Digital (Top and Bottom), Power+Control, and AC Input boards, along with the CPT and Side-A/V boards, to aid in component identification and location.
