Overview

This document is a service manual for LG washing machines, specifically models FH4A8JDHK2N (1~9) and FH4A8FDHK2N (1~9). It provides detailed information for diagnosing problems and performing service, emphasizing safety precautions.

Function Description

The LG washing machine incorporates an Inverter Direct Drive system, where a brushless DC motor directly drives the drum without a belt or pulley, enhancing durability and reducing noise. It features 6 Motion Technology, allowing the washer to perform various drum actions or combinations of actions based on the selected wash program. This, combined with controlled spin speed and bi-directional drum rotation, improves wash performance.

The machine is equipped with an Intelligent Wash System that detects the load amount and water temperature to determine the optimal water level and washing time, minimizing energy and water consumption. A pressure sensor controls the water level in the tub, stopping water supply at a preset level and preventing spinning until the water level reduces.

For user convenience and safety, the washing machine includes a Child Lock function that disables all buttons except the power button during operation, preventing unintended changes to settings. A Low Noise Speed Control System senses load amount and balance to evenly distribute the load, minimizing spinning noise. In case of a power failure, the Auto Restart function allows the program to resume from where it stopped.

The washing machine also integrates NFC (Tag On function) Smart Diagnosis function (3.0). This feature enables users to diagnose technical difficulties by transmitting data via a smartphone to the Customer Information Center, facilitating quick and effective troubleshooting. The Tag On function also supports downloading courses, washing coach features, and one-touch washing.

The machine offers various wash programs including Cotton, Cotton Large, Mix, Easy Care, Duvet, Allergy Care, Refresh, Sports Wear, Wool, Quick 30, Silent Wash, Dry Only, and Wash+Dry, along with a Download Cycle. Rinse options include Normal, Rinse+, and Rinse+Hold.

Special features like Pre Wash can be selected for heavily soiled loads, adding 19 minutes of pre-wash and drain. Steam Wash enhances washing performance with low energy consumption and is available for specific cycles. Steam Softener sprays steam after the spin cycle to reduce creases and make laundry fluffy, also available for certain cycles.

The Time Delay function allows users to set a delayed start for any cycle, from 3 to 19 hours. The Time Save option can reduce the wash program duration for lightly soiled loads. An Intensive option is available for heavily soiled laundry. Users can select water temperature (Cold, 20°C, 30°C, 40°C, 60°C, 95°C) and spin speed (No Spin, 400, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400 RPM). The Rinse Hold function keeps clothes suspended in water after the last rinse without spinning.

A Tub Clean cycle is available to clean the inside of the washing machine, using a higher water level and spin speed. The Beep On/Off function allows users to toggle audible alerts.

The Door Lock & Detecting mechanism ensures the door is locked during operation for safety, indicated by a "Door Lock" icon. The machine also detects the laundry load in the drum by rotating slowly.

For drying, the machine supports Dry programs such as Lower Temp., Iron, Cupboard, Eco, and Time. Automatic drying cycles use electronic sensors to measure exhaust temperature and adjust drying temperatures for faster reaction time and tighter control. Users can also select specific drying times (30/60/120 minutes) or courses like Cupboard, Eco, Low Temp., Iron, and Normal Eco.
