Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG Washing Machine, covering models FH84A8TDS(W)(0~9), FH82A8TDS(W)(0~9), F74A8QDS(W)(0~9), and F72A8QDS(W)(0~9). It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty information.

Function Description

The LG Washing Machine is designed to efficiently clean various types of laundry using a range of wash cycles and options. It features an automatic error-monitoring system for early problem detection and diagnosis. The machine is equipped with a drum that performs various motions to optimize washing performance. It also includes a detergent dispenser drawer for cleaning products and a drain pump filter to collect lint and small objects.

Key functions include:

  • Washing Cycles: A variety of programs tailored for different fabric types, soil levels, and specific needs, such as Cotton, Easy Care, Mix, Allergy Care, Silent Wash, Steam Refresh, Duvet, Sports Wear, Dark Wash, Speed 14, Gentle Care, and Stain Care.
  • Steam Function (Optional): Enhanced washing performance with low energy consumption. Steam Wash is suitable for heavily stained clothes, underwear, and baby clothes, while Steam Softener sprays steam after a spinning cycle to reduce creases and make laundry fluffy.
  • Time Delay: Allows users to set a delayed start for the washing machine, enabling it to finish automatically after a specified time interval.
  • Favorite Program: Users can store a customized wash cycle for future use.
  • Pre Wash: Recommended for heavily soiled laundry.
  • Rinse Options: Includes Rinse+, Rinse++, Rinse++Hold, and N+Hold for additional rinsing or pausing the cycle after rinsing.
  • Spin Options: Adjustable spin speed levels, including a 'No Spin' option that still rotates briefly for quick draining.
  • Turbo Wash: A wash cycle completed in under 1 hour with energy and water savings (based on half a laundry load).
  • Intensive: Effective for normal and heavily soiled laundry.
  • Temp. Control: Allows selection of wash and rinse temperature combinations suitable for different fabric types.
  • Child Lock: Locks control panel buttons to prevent tampering.
  • Beep On/Off: Toggles the audible signals of the machine.
  • Smart Function (Optional): Includes Tag On for convenient use of LG Smart Diagnosis™ and Cycle Download features via a smartphone with NFC.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: 220–240 V~, 50 Hz
  • Size: 600 mm (W) X 590 mm (D) X 850 mm (H)
  • Product Weight: 64 kg
  • Wash Capacity: 8/7 kg (This indicates a dual capacity, likely for washing and drying, or different load types, but the manual primarily focuses on washing.)
  • Permissible Water Pressure: 0.1 - 1.0 MPa (1.0 - 10.0 kgf/cm²)
  • Maximum Spin Speed: Varies by model (e.g., FH84**/F74** models up to 1400 rpm, FH82**/F72** models up to 1200 rpm).
  • Energy Efficiency Class: A+++ (for both FH84**/F74** and FH82**/F72** models).
  • Weighted Annual Energy Consumption (AEC): 117/104 kWh/year (for 8kg/7kg capacity respectively, based on 220 standard cotton cycles at 60°C and 40°C).
  • Weighted Annual Water Consumption (AWC): 8900/8500 litres/year (for 8kg/7kg capacity respectively, based on 220 standard cotton cycles).
  • Spin-drying Efficiency Class: A or B, depending on the model.
  • Airborne Acoustical Noise Emissions: 52 dB(A) for washing and 72-73 dB(A) for spinning (for standard 60°C cotton program at full load).

Usage Features

  • Installation: Requires a flat, hard floor with an allowable slope of 1°. Specific clearances for walls (10 cm rear, 2 cm right & left) are recommended. Shipping bolts must be removed before operation. Inlet hoses connect to water taps (screw-type or one-touch type) and the washing machine, ensuring no kinks. The drain hose should not be placed higher than 100 cm above the floor. Electrical connections must be earthed and follow local wiring regulations.
  • Loading Laundry: Sort laundry by fabric type, soil level, color, and load size. Combine large and small items, with large items not exceeding half the total load. Check pockets for foreign objects and close zippers/hooks to prevent snagging.
  • Adding Cleaning Products: Detergent dosage depends on manufacturer instructions, fabric type, soil level, and water temperature. Liquid detergent can be poured directly into the main dispenser for immediate cycles but not for Time Delay or Pre Wash. Fabric softener should not exceed the maximum fill line. Water softener can be used in hard water areas. Tablets are placed directly into the drum.
  • Operating the Machine: Turn on, select desired cycle, and press Start/Pause. The machine will briefly agitate to measure load weight. Remove clothing immediately after the cycle to reduce wrinkling.

Maintenance Features

  • Care After Wash: Wipe the door and door seal to remove moisture, leave the door open to dry the drum interior, and wipe the body with a dry cloth.
  • Cleaning the Exterior: Wash with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid pressing the surface with sharp objects.
  • Care and Cleaning of the Interior: Wipe around the door opening and glass. Remove items promptly after a cycle. Run the Tub Clean cycle monthly to remove detergent buildup.
  • Cleaning the Water Inlet Filter: Turn off the water tap, unscrew the inlet hose, and clean the filter with a hard bristle brush. This is recommended occasionally, especially in hard water areas or if the 'IE' error icon appears.
  • Cleaning the Drain Pump Filter: Allow water to cool, open the cover cap, pull out the hose, unplug the drain plug, and turn the filter to the left to remove foreign matter. Drain any remaining water.
  • Cleaning the Dispenser Drawer: Pull out the drawer, remove inserts, and rinse with warm water to remove buildup. Clean the drawer opening with a cloth or non-metal brush.
  • Tub Clean (Optional): A special cycle to clean the inside of the washing machine using a higher water level and spin speed. Add anti-limescale to the main wash compartment.
  • Caution on Freezing During Winter: Install the product where temperatures will not drop below freezing. If freezing occurs, empty the drum, pour warm water (50-60°C) into the drum, wait 1-2 hours, then drain the water and run a Rinse and Spin cycle. Check water supply and drainage units if the 'FE' error icon appears.
  • Smart Diagnosis™ Function: Use this function to obtain an accurate diagnosis from an LG Electronics service center in case of malfunction. Place a phone mouthpiece near the Power button and hold the Temp. button for 3 seconds to transmit diagnostic tones.
