Overview

This document is an Owner's Manual for an LG Refrigerator Freezer, model G*-D702H**M. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Function Description

The LG Refrigerator Freezer is designed to store fresh and frozen foods, maintaining optimal temperatures for preservation. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, each with independent temperature controls. The appliance incorporates a "Hygiene Fresh" filter with antibacterial and deodorizing functions to ensure a clean and fresh internal environment. For user convenience, it includes a "Home Bar" for easy access to frequently used items without fully opening the main door, thus saving electricity. The refrigerator also has a "Smart Diagnosis" function to assist in troubleshooting and contacting service centers for precise diagnostics in case of malfunctions.

Usage Features

Starting and Temperature Setting: Upon initial installation, the refrigerator should stabilize for 2-3 hours before loading food. If operation is interrupted, a 5-minute wait is recommended before restarting. The temperature of the refrigerator compartment is controlled by a button, with a default setting of 3°C, adjustable in seven steps from 0°C to 6°C. The freezer compartment temperature is controlled by a dial, with a default setting of '3'. A temperature sensor in the refrigerator compartment automatically manages compressor operation.

Door Alarm: An alarm sounds if either the refrigerator or freezer door remains open for 1 minute, repeating every 30 seconds until closed.

Self Test: The refrigerator has a built-in diagnostic capability that displays error codes for repair technicians in case of malfunction. During an error code display, other control and display functions are suspended. Users are advised to contact a service center if an error code appears and not to disconnect the power cord.

Controls for Refrigerator Compartment: The "Fridge" button controls the refrigerator temperature, with an LED indicating the selected setting. The "Hygiene Fresh" button activates the hygiene motor, which can be set to AUTO, POWER, or OFF modes.

Express Freeze: This feature, activated upon initial startup or manually via the control panel, operates the compressor and fan at maximum cooling capacity to rapidly lower the freezer temperature. It automatically shuts off once the proper temperature is reached or can be manually deactivated.

Lock (Optional): The "Lock" button, when pressed and held for 3 seconds, locks the control panel, illuminating an LED and disabling other buttons. To unlock, the button must be pressed and held again for 3 seconds.

Hygiene Fresh: The HYGIENE FRESH filter provides antibacterial and deodorizing functions, removing viruses, bacteria, and scents from inside the refrigerator. It operates in AUTO, POWER, or OFF modes, selected by pressing the "Hygiene Fresh" button. The LED around the filter illuminates when in AUTO or POWER mode.

Controls for Freezer Compartment: The freezer temperature is adjusted by turning a knob. Turning it counter-clockwise to a higher number lowers the temperature, while turning it clockwise to a smaller number raises it. A specific setting (Knob 7) is available for quick freezing. The recommended setting for sufficient freezing is "NORMAL".

Ice Making (Twisting Ice Serve Type): To make ice, fill the ice tray with water and place it in position. To remove ice cubes, gently pull and turn the tray lever, causing cubes to drop into the ice cube box. The ice maker can be disassembled for more freezer space. Only water should be used, filled up to the marked line.

Vegetable Drawer: The vegetable drawer includes a partitioner, which can be fixed at the rear side of the box. Its usage is controlled by a knob, and users should check the knob's position before storing food, avoiding the middle point.

Defrosting: Defrosting occurs automatically. The defrosted water flows into an evaporating tray at the lower back of the refrigerator and evaporates automatically.

Home Bar: The Home Bar allows quick access to frequently used items. It opens by pressing a button until a "click" sound is heard. An LED lamp turns on when the Home Bar is open. The Home Bar basket can be disassembled by lifting and pulling it from its grooves, and reassembled by placing it on the guide and pushing it into the wide groove. The Home Bar cover can be removed by lifting it upward and pulling. All food should be removed before disassembling the Home Bar.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: Regular cleaning is crucial to prevent odors and stains. Spilled food should be wiped immediately. Metallic scouring pads, brushes, abrasive cleaners, strong alkaline solutions, or harsh chemicals should not be used on any surface, especially stainless steel exteriors, as they can damage the protective lacquer or cause discoloration. For exterior cleaning, a lukewarm solution of mild soap or dishwashing liquid with a clean, damp cloth is recommended, followed by thorough drying. For stainless steel, a clean sponge or soft cloth with mild detergent in warm water should be used. Interior parts, including shelves, door racks, storage trays, and magnetic door seals, should be cleaned with a lukewarm solution of mild soap or dishwashing liquid, then wiped with a clean, damp cloth and dried. Before cleaning near electrical parts, the power cord must be removed from the wall outlet to prevent electric shock. Excess moisture should be wiped away to avoid contact with electrical components. Flammable or toxic cleaning liquids are prohibited. The lower drawers should not be cleaned in a dishwasher due to high temperatures causing damage.

Lamp Replacement: This product uses LED lamps that are not user-replaceable. For lamp replacement, users should contact an authorized service center.

Disposal of Old Appliance: The appliance contains recyclable materials (refrigerant, lubricant, and parts). All materials should be sent to a designated recycling waste disposal site. Users should contact their local city office, waste disposal service, or the shop where the product was purchased for detailed disposal information. Before disposal, all packing materials and the door should be removed to prevent children from being locked inside.

Earth (Grounding) Construction (Optional): To prevent electric shock from leakage, installing an earth wire is recommended. The earth wire's metal ring end connects to the earth screw on the back of the refrigerator, and the other end, with insulation peeled, is attached to a metal screw/nail driven into the wall or ground. The earth wire should not be connected to gas pipes, telephone earth wires, lightning rods, or water pipes with plastic sections. In humid or wet locations (e.g., dirt-floored rooms, near sinks, basements), earth wire installation is mandatory, and a circuit breaker may also be required by law. Consulting a retailer or electric construction company for Type 3 earth construction is advised, noting potential extra fees.
