Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG Refrigerator, providing comprehensive information on its identification, safety precautions, installation, features, operating procedures, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The LG Refrigerator is designed for domestic use to store and preserve food items. It functions by maintaining a controlled low-temperature environment to keep food fresh for extended periods. The refrigerator includes various compartments and features optimized for different types of food storage, such as fresh produce, bottled items, and frozen goods. It incorporates a defrosting system to prevent ice buildup and maintain efficient cooling.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Lamp: 10 watt (Optional)
  • Refrigerant: Isobutane refrigerant (R600a), which is flammable. The appliance contains a small amount of this refrigerant.
  • Voltage: For inverter models, the specified voltage range is 90V-310V. A Voltage Stabilizer (0.5kVA) is recommended for areas with frequent power fluctuations, especially if the voltage range is outside 135-290V.
  • Electrical Connection: Requires a 3-pin earthing connection (220-240V / 50Hz).
  • Installation Clearance: Requires adequate space around the appliance for proper ventilation and heat dissipation. Specifically, 30cm of space above and 10cm on the sides are shown in diagrams for base stand installation.
  • Temperature Control: Features a control knob with settings for Winter, Monsoon, and Summer, allowing users to adjust the cooling intensity based on ambient conditions. Specific settings (e.g., 1-3 for Winter, 3-5 for Monsoon, 5-7 for Summer) are indicated.
  • EverCool™ and EverCool™ Lite: These features maintain optimal cooling during long power cuts. EverCool™ requires the refrigerator to run for a minimum of 12 hours before a power cut, while EverCool™ Lite requires 8 hours. Both systems provide cooling for several hours (up to 9 hours for EverCool™ Lite) during power outages.

Usage Features

The LG Refrigerator offers a variety of features designed to enhance user convenience and food preservation:

  • Identification of Parts: The manual provides a detailed diagram identifying various components such as the Evaporator Frame, Evaporator Door, Chiller Tray, Upper Shelf, Lower Shelf, Bottle Holder, Cell Fresh Crisper, Soft Veg Tray, Vegetable Tray, Base Stand with drawer, Adjustable Leg, Lamp, Control Knob, Small Basket, Cosmetics Box, Lock, Zip Pouch, Bottle Guide, Large Basket, Bag Holder, and Flip Basket. Many of these parts are optional.
  • Temperature Settings: Users can adjust the cooling intensity using the control knob, with recommended settings for different seasons (Winter, Monsoon, Summer) to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
  • Defrosting: The refrigerator features a defrost knob/Ice Level indicator. Pushing this knob after 3 days or when the Ice Level reaches defrost indicator initiates the defrosting process. Manual removal of ice is discouraged to prevent damage.
  • Ice Making: Ice trays are provided for making ice. To remove ice cubes, users are instructed to gently twist the Ice Tray.
  • Cosmetic Box (Optional): A specified storage location for cosmetics and medicines.
  • Soft Tray Veg (Optional): Designed for storing small vegetables like Lemon, Chilly, Coriander, etc.
  • Bottle Holder (Optional): Pull-down holder to store up to four 1-liter water bottles.
  • Cell Fresh Crisper (Optional): Helps maintain moisture to keep vegetables fresh and prevent rotting.
  • Flip Basket (Optional): A basket that can be flipped down to store small items less than 0.5kg or flipped up to store 2-liter bottles in the lower basket.
  • Base Stand with Drawer (Optional): Provides additional storage space, capable of holding up to 5kg, suitable for vegetables like Potato, Onion, etc.
  • Egg Cum Ice Tray (Optional): A specified storage location for eggs, which can also be used to make ice in the freezer.
  • Zip Pouch (Optional): A nylon bag with a zip closure for keeping items and zip after keeping items, suitable for small items like Lemon, Ginger, Coriander, etc.
  • Bag Holder (Optional): Designed for hanging items with a polythene bag.
  • Good Results Tips:
    • Cover or wrap all foods to prevent mixing of flavors and to keep food from drying.
    • Avoid placing hot milk or hot food directly in the refrigerator to prevent increased temperature and power consumption.
    • Do not open the refrigerator door too often to prevent hot air from entering and increasing the temperature.
    • Avoid overloading shelves with paper or plastic sheets to maintain efficiency.
    • Ensure the door closes properly and there is no gap between the gasket and the cabinet.
    • Wipe excessive moisture on food or place it inside containers or plastic bags to retain freshness longer.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: The interior and exterior of the appliance should be cleaned with a rough brush, toothpaste, or flammable materials. Avoid using cleaning agents containing flammable substances. Do not use alcohol (ethanol, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol, etc.), thinner, bleach, benzene, flammable liquid, abrasive, etc., as these may cause discoloration or damage.
  • Shifting: When moving the refrigerator, two people should carry it for safety. The door should be taped or locked to prevent opening.

    • Appliance Use: This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities unless supervised or instructed.
  • Before Calling for Service: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common complaints, probable causes, and remedies. This includes issues like the refrigerator not working, attempts to start but does not operate, contents not cooling, water drops on the exterior, formation of droplets on the underside of the Chiller tray, smell and odor, noise, and hissing noise from the freezer.
