Why are my LG Refrigerator fridge and freezer section not cooling?
    • V
      Vanessa GillespieAug 23, 2025
If your LG Refrigerator's fridge and freezer aren't cooling, first ensure the fridge display control isn't set to OFF. If it is, cancel the OFF mode. Also, check if the fridge is in Display mode. If the fridge was recently installed, it can take up to 24 hours to reach the desired temperature. If the fridge was recently relocated and stored for a long period of time or moved on its side, let it stand upright for 24 hours before connecting it to power. Finally, if the fridge is in the defrost cycle, wait 40 minutes after completion to see if the temperature restores.

      rachelsmithAug 25, 2025
If your LG Refrigerator's icemaker isn't making ice, it could be because it was recently installed or connected; it can take up to 24 hours to start making ice. Make sure the icemaker is turned on by locating the Ice On/Off button. Check that the fridge is connected to a water supply and the shutoff valve is fully open. Ensure that the icemaker shutoff arm moves freely. Finally, reverse osmosis filtration systems can sometimes reduce water pressure, causing issues.

      Timothy ParkerAug 27, 2025
If your LG Refrigerator is not dispensing water, especially after a new installation or recently connecting the water line, dispense 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approximately 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants. Ensure the dispenser panel isn't locked by pressing and holding the Lock button for three seconds. Check that the dispenser is set to water dispensing by pressing the Water button. Also, make sure all fridge or freezer doors are properly closed. If you recently replaced the water filter, flush the system as described above. Check for kinks in the tubing connecting the fridge to the water supply, and ensure the house water supply is connected and the valve is fully open.

If your LG Refrigerator is not dispensing ice, ensure all doors are completely closed. If the dispenser is used infrequently, check for ice cubes clumping together in the ice bin and break them up. Clear any frost or ice fragments from the delivery chute with a plastic utensil after removing the ice bin. Make sure the dispenser display is not locked by pressing and holding the Lock button for three seconds. Also, check that the ice bin isn't empty and the shutoff arm isn't obstructed.

Why does frost or ice crystals form on frozen food (outside of package) in my LG GLS8848SC Refrigerator?
    • A
      Ashley HobbsSep 22, 2025

Why does the ice from my LG GLS8848SC have a bad taste or odor?
    • J
      James GreenSep 16, 2025
If ice from your LG Refrigerator has a bad taste or odor, it may be due to minerals in the water supply; consider installing a water filter. If the icemaker was recently installed, discard the first few batches of ice. Old ice can also develop off-flavors, so throw it away and make a new supply. Ensure food is properly stored in both compartments and clean the fridge interior and ice storage bin regularly.

    • E
      Edward SextonSep 18, 2025
If the water from your LG Refrigerator has a bad taste or odor, it could be due to minerals in the water supply, so a water filter may be needed. Also, the water filter may be exhausted and require replacement approximately every 6 months or when the indicator turns on. If the fridge was recently installed, dispense 2.5 gallons of water to remove trapped air and contaminants.

      Christina PooleSep 7, 2025
If food is freezing in the fridge compartment of your LG Refrigerator, it may be because food with high water content is near an air vent; rearrange these items. The fridge temperature control might be set incorrectly; adjust it one increment at a time and wait for stabilization. Also, the fridge should not be operated in temperatures below 13°C.

      Robert MillerSep 4, 2025
If your LG Refrigerator or freezer section is too warm, remember that after installation, it can take up to 24 hours to reach the desired temperature. Ensure air vents aren't blocked by rearranging items. Reduce the frequency and duration of door openings. Avoid operating the unit in temperatures above 43°C. Cool hot food before placing it inside. Also, make sure the doors are closed correctly and the temperature control is properly set. Finally, wait 40 minutes after a defrost cycle to confirm the temperature has been restored.
