Function Description

The LG Fridge & Freezer is a domestic appliance designed for household food storage. It features separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, allowing for optimal preservation of various food types. The appliance includes a control panel for setting temperatures, a Hygiene Fresh function to minimize bacteria and odor, and an Express Freeze function for rapid freezing.   • The appliance is intended for use in ambient temperatures between 10 °C and 43 °C.

Refrigerant:

  • Contains a small amount of isobutane refrigerant (R600a), which is combustible.
  • Room size must be at least 1 m² for every 8 g of R600a refrigerant. The exact amount is specified on the identification plate inside the appliance.

Power:

  • Requires connection to a dedicated, separately fused power line.
  • Equipped with an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding power plug.

Freezer Compartment:

  • The 2-star section (**) basket or drawer can store ice and food from -12 °C to -18 °C for short periods.
  • For normal ice making in normal climates, freezer temperatures should be set to -18 °C or colder.
  • The Express Freeze function allows the freezer to reach maximum freezing capacity, typically taking up to 24 hours.

Usage Features

Control Panel:

  • Fridge Temperature: Adjusts the fridge target temperature (0 °C to 6 °C, initial 3 °C).
  • Freezer Temperature: Adjusts the freezer target temperature (-24 °C to -16 °C, initial -18 °C).
  • Hygiene Fresh: Minimizes bacteria and odor, with modes: Auto → Power → Off → Auto.
  • Shabbath: Turns off interior LED lamp and door alarm, maintains fridge at 3 °C, and automatically turns off after 96 hours. Activated by pressing and holding the Shabbath button for 3 seconds.
  • Express Freeze: Activates maximum freezing capacity.
  • Wi-Fi: Connects the appliance to a home Wi-Fi network for SmartThinQ features.
  • Lock: Locks control panel buttons (press and hold for 3 seconds).

Door-in-Door (Optional):

  • A double-layered door system for organized storage and easy access to frequently used items. Opened by pulling a lever at the bottom.

Moving Basket (Optional):

  • Allows vertical adjustment of the basket for storing taller items. Requires emptying contents before moving.

Icemaker (Type 1):

  • Manual ice production. Fill the water tank to the water level line, push the ice tray back, and rotate the knob clockwise to dispense ice.

SmartThinQ Application:

  • Connects the appliance to a smartphone for smart features, firmware updates, Smart Diagnosis™, and settings adjustments.
  • Requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and mobile data turned off during registration.
  • Wi-Fi icon on the control panel indicates connection status.

Smart Diagnosis™:

  • Assists in diagnosing malfunctions by transferring data to an LG Electronics customer information center.
  • Activate by pressing the Lock button, then open the fridge door and hold a phone to the upper right speaker hole while pressing and holding the Freezer button for 3 seconds.

Maintenance Features

General Cleaning:

  • Remove all food from shelves and drawers before cleaning to prevent injury or damage.
  • Unplug the power cord when cleaning outside air vents.
  • Detach and clean shelves and drawers with water, then dry thoroughly.
  • Regularly wipe door gaskets with a wet soft towel.
  • Clean door basket spills and stains promptly.
  • Keep exterior air vents clean to prevent fire or damage.
  • Wax external painted metal surfaces twice a year with appliance wax for rust protection; do not wax plastic parts.
  • Use a clean sponge or soft cloth with mild detergent and warm water for exterior cleaning. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaners, flammable substances (alcohol, thinner, bleach, benzene), and rough brushes.
  • Do not clean shelves or containers in the dishwasher.
  • LED lamps are not user-serviceable; contact LG Electronics customer information center for issues.

Cleaning Specific Components:

  • Fridge Shelf: Tilt the front up, lift, and pull out. Refit by guiding hooks into holes and lowering.
  • Vegetable Box (Type 1): Open fridge door, remove shelves, lift the box with both hands, pull it forward, then lift the back side and tilt out.
  • Vegetable Drawer (Type 2): Open doors, remove contents from door-in-door cases and baskets, then pull out the drawer until it stops, lift, and remove. Tilt and pull out the cover.
  • Fridge/Freezer Basket: Hold with both hands, lift the front part, and pull out. Refit by aligning with guides and pushing down.
  • Door in Door Case: Lift the case from inside with both hands. Remove moving basket by unscrewing side rails.
  • Fridge Basket from Door in Door: Hold both ends, lift the front part.
  • Mini Table: Open door-in-door, push out rubber cover on the left bottom side with a flat screwdriver after folding the mini table vertically. Insert a screwdriver into the movable pin hole, push right, and remove.
  • Freezer Tray/Drawer: Open freezer doors completely, pull out trays/drawers to full extension, remove contents, then lift the front and pull out.
  • Easy Icemaker: Hold both ends of the basket/storage bin on the upper part and pull upward.

Troubleshooting:

  • Provides solutions for common issues like no refrigeration, poor refrigeration, bad smells, non-working lamps, door not closing tightly, difficulty opening the door, door mullion issues, condensation, frost, noisy operation, warm sides/front, and water leakage.
  • For SmartThinQ connection issues, check Wi-Fi password, mobile data, SSID, router frequency (must be 2.4 GHz), and distance to the router.

Disposal:

  • When discarding, remove the door gasket and keep shelves/baskets away from children to prevent entrapment.
  • Dispose of packaging materials (plastic bags, styrofoam) safely to prevent suffocation.
  • Consult service agent for refrigerant and insulation blowing gas disposal.
