How to fix an LG Ice Maker when the automatic ice maker doesn't work?
    • M
      Michael LewisAug 9, 2025
If your LG Ice Maker's automatic ice maker isn't working, it could be due to a few reasons. First, check if the water supply is turned off or not properly connected; refer to Connecting the Water Line for guidance. Also, ensure the freezer compartment is cold enough; it may take 24 hours after installation to reach the set temperature, with a recommended temperature of 0 degrees F (-18°C). Another potential issue is piled-up ice cubes in the storage bin, which can cause the icemaker to shut off. If this is the case, level the cubes by hand.

It may also be that the freezer compartment is too warm; after installing the icemaker, wait 24 hours for the freezer to reach its set temperature, which should ideally be 0 degrees F (-18°C). If your ice cubes from the LG Ice Maker have a bad taste or odor, several factors could be the cause. Start by emptying and thoroughly washing the ice bin. Also, check if any food items are transmitting odor or taste to the ice cubes; if so, cover or wrap these items to prevent the spread of odors. If the issue persists, refer to your refrigerator’s Owner’s Manual, Care and Cleaning section, for General Cleaning Tips to clean the interior of the refrigerator.
