Troubleshoot a screen that isn't working
correctly
If your Android phone or tablet's screen isn't responding, or if you're seeing flickering, jumping,
flashing, dead pixels or a blank screen, try these quick fixes and troubleshooting steps.
After trying each recommended solution, check to see whether it fixed your issue.
Step 1: Check your device's screen
1. Make sure that your screen isn't cracked, chipped or damaged.
2. If you have a case or screen protector, take it off.
3. If you're wearing gloves, take them off.
4. If you've put any stickers over the screen or sensors, peel them off.
5. Make sure that your screen is clean.
Step 2: Try these troubleshooting steps
If none of the quick checks above worked, try the troubleshooting steps below.
Restarting your device
To restart your phone or tablet, press your device's Power button for about 30 seconds, until
your device restarts.
Rebooting your device gives it a fresh start. Sometimes, that's all you need to fix an issue.
If your touchscreen is still completely unresponsive after restarting your device, you can find out
how to reset your device to factory settings (below).
See whether an app is causing the problem
The problem may be caused by an app that you downloaded. To see whether a downloaded app
is causing the problem, you can reboot your device in safe mode.
