Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG Washing Machine, specifically models T65SJ#*Z, T70SJ#Z, and T80SJ#Z. The '#' and '' symbols denote variations in features and models, with '#' referring to colors (FS, SF, SS, BK, DR, BW) and '' referring to numbers (1, 2, 3).

Function Description

The LG Washing Machine offers various washing methods tailored to different laundry conditions and types. Key features include:

  • Pre Wash+ Normal: This program enhances wash performance by adding an extra 8 minutes of a unique washing pattern before the main wash cycle.
  • Jet Spray+: A technology designed to spray inlet water with greater force, penetrating deep into clothes for improved washing and rinsing. Its performance may vary with inlet water pressure, with optimum results achieved at pressures greater than 0.9 Bar. This feature works during wash and rinse cycles in Normal, Pre Wash+ Normal, Turbo Wash, and Aqua Reserve programs at all water levels.
  • Smart Closing Door: Equipped with a smart hinge, this feature prevents the door from closing suddenly, ensuring a soft and safe operation. The door closing time is dependent on ambient temperature, with higher temperatures resulting in faster closing. It performs best when closed from a full open position.
  • Turbowash: This program delivers high wash performance in the shortest cycle time by utilizing Jet Spray+ technology, which optimizes water and energy consumption.
  • Normal Logic Control: A built-in load sensor automatically detects the laundry load, and a microprocessor optimizes washing conditions, including ideal water level and washing time.
  • TurboDrum Washing: When the "Punch + 3" washing wings turn, the washing tub rotates in the opposite direction, creating strong water currents that enhance wash performance through vigorous rubbing of clothes.
  • 3 Step Washing: This process aims to achieve the best washing performance with minimal tangling.
  • Auto Restart: In case of a power failure, the program automatically restarts from the stage where it stopped.
  • Smart Diagnosis™: This technology allows the transmission of anomalies to a service center when a problem occurs, facilitating precise and fast analysis for troubleshooting.

Usage Features

The washing machine offers a variety of programs and options:

Washing Programs:

  • Normal Wash: For everyday laundry like sheets, towels, T-shirts. Automatically selects appropriate conditions.
  • Turbo Wash: For regular laundry, saving time and optimizing water/energy. Applicable for water levels 1 to 7.
  • Quick Wash: For lightly soiled clothes (under 2.0 kg) in a short time.
  • Strong (Jeans) Wash: For heavily soiled, durable garments like overalls and jeans. Can also be used for energy-saving courses.
  • Pre Wash+ Normal: Pre-treatment for heavily soiled or dirty clothes to achieve optimal wash performance, including an 8-minute pre-washing operation.
  • Soak Wash: For heavily soiled laundry, allowing clothes to soak in water to remove dirt and grime. Can be used with Normal, Strong (Jeans), or Aqua Reserve programs. Soak times can be set for 15, 25, or 35 minutes.
  • Gentle (Wool/Saree): For delicate items like lingerie, woolens, and sarees (water washable only). Recommends neutral detergent and cold water for loads under 2kg. Spin cycle may be slower to prevent damage.
  • Aqua Reserve Wash: Prevents automatic draining of water at the end of the cycle, allowing water reuse for a second wash load. SPIN function is not available in this program.
  • Tub Clean: Cleans the inner and outer tubs, especially useful for removing waxy build-up (scrud) from fabric softener and detergent residue. Uses oxygenated bleach (approx. 300ml) after 10 minutes of water supplement. This program takes about 2 hours and should be used monthly without laundry.
  • ENERGY SAVING COURSE: A specific setting within the Strong (Jeans) program (Heavy soil, Water Level 10, Wash 25min, Rinse 2 times, Spin High) designed for energy efficiency.

Additional Functions:

  • Beeper Button: Adjusts alarm signal sounds (High, Off, Low). Default is High.
  • Water Level Button: Manually selects water level or allows automatic detection.
  • Time Left, Delay Start (Reservation), Alarm Indication: Displays remaining time, delayed finishing time, and error messages (e.g., dE for open lid).
  • Soil Level: Adjusts wash intensity based on soil/dirt level (Low, Medium, High). Not available for Tub Clean, Wool, Air Dry, and Turbo Wash programs, or when only spin is selected.
  • AIR DRY: Air-dries laundry. Selections include 30min, 1hr, 1:30hr, 2hr. For effective moisture removal, keep laundry under 2kg and spread evenly (1hr for cotton, 2hr for synthetic fiber).
  • Child Lock Function: Locks control buttons to prevent changes by children. Activated by pressing and holding Beeper and Rinse keys simultaneously for 3 seconds. "CL" and remaining time are displayed alternately when locked. Power On/Off button remains functional.
  • WASH, RINSE, SPIN Buttons: Adjust wash, rinse, and spin times. Pressing during washing displays total remaining cycle time.
  • DELAY START (RESERVATION) Button: Delays the finishing time of the operation from 3 to 18 hours. Intervals are 1 hour for 3-12 hours and 2 hours for 12-18 hours. Cannot be reserved for less than 3 hours. Not available for Gentle (Wool/Saree) and Tub Clean programs.
  • Option Wash: Allows selection of only SPIN, RINSE/SPIN, RINSE, WASH/RINSE, WASH, or WASH/RINSE/SPIN cycles. For drain-only, press SPIN then START/PAUSE. Water level can be controlled manually or automatically detected (not for spin-only).

Maintenance Features

  • Care Labels: Always check clothing care labels for fabric content and washing instructions.
  • Sorting: Sort clothes by soil level (Heavy, Normal, Light), color (Whites, Lights, Darks), and lint production (Lint Producers, Collectors) for best results.
  • Pre-Loading Check: Empty pockets, mend torn garments, remove belts/underwires, pretreat dirt/stains, ensure clothes are water-washable, and remove tissues.
  • Water-Proof/Resistant Items: Do not wash or spin water-proof or water-resistant items (e.g., mattress pads, rain gear) as this can cause severe damage due to abnormal vibration.
  • Stain Removal: Remove stains promptly. Determine stain type and follow recommended treatments (refer to the manual's stain removal chart). Use pre-wash products, liquid detergent, or a paste of granular detergent and water. Use COLD water for unknown stains.
  • Detergent Usage: Follow package directions. Use more for hard water, large loads, greasy soils, or lower water temperatures. Powdered, liquid, or concentrated domestic detergents are recommended. Soap flakes or granulated powders should not be used. For woolens, use suitable detergent.
  • Bleach Usage: Dilute liquid chlorine bleach and pour into the bleach dispenser. Do not pour undiluted bleach directly onto clothes or mix with ammonia/acids.
  • Fabric Softener Usage: Dilute fabric softener with water and add to the dispenser. Do not overfill (max 35ml). Avoid mixing with detergent or bleach, or pouring directly onto clothes.
  • Scrud (Waxy Build-up) Prevention: Use fabric softener sparingly, clean the dispenser after each cycle, and clean the machine regularly (using Tub Clean). Regular WARM or HOT washes (e.g., every 5th wash) are recommended, especially with cold water washing.
  • Inlet Valve Filter Cleaning: Close the tap, turn off power, remove water by pressing START/PAUSE, then remove and clean the filter with a brush.
  • Magic Filter Cleaning: Clean regularly to prevent linting on clothes. Replace if damaged.
  • Hose Maintenance: Periodically check fill hoses for cracks, leaks, and wear, replacing them every 5 years. Do not stretch or crush hoses.
  • Freezing Prevention: Close water taps, remove water from supply and drain hose, and spin to drain water from the bowl. If frozen, immerse the supply hose in 40°C hot water and pour 2 liters of 40°C hot water into the bowl, letting it stand for 10 minutes.
  • Wash Inner-tub Cleaning: Leave the lid open after washing to evaporate moisture. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with liquid detergent, then rinse.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe spills immediately with a damp cloth.
  • Long Vacations: Shut off water supply at faucets and drain all water from hoses if temperatures will be below freezing.
  • Grounding: Properly ground the washer according to codes and ordinances to prevent electric shock. If the AC current outlet has a ground terminal, separate grounding is not required. Other methods include burying a copper plate or using a short circuit breaker.
  • Power Cord Safety: Do not overload wall outlets, use damaged cords, or place the cord where it can be twisted, pinched, or walked upon.
  • General Safety: Keep laundry area free of combustible materials. Supervise children. Do not touch power plug with wet hands. Do not put hands/feet under the machine during operation. Unplug before maintenance. Ensure proper drainage. Do not operate if damaged or with missing parts. Do not use water hotter than 60°C. Avoid water logging near the washer. Do not use a plug socket or wiring beyond rated capacity. Do not mix chlorine bleach with other household chemicals. Do not wash items with combustible substances. Do not use buckets to fill water.
