Overview

This document is the owner's installation and operating manual for the LifeSmart Infrared Fireplace Heater, model LS-IF1500-DOFP.

This infrared fireplace heater is designed to efficiently heat up to 1500 square feet, serving as a supplement to a home's main furnace rather than a replacement. It is not an instant heater and may take up to 24 hours for a room to reach the desired temperature. The heater has been tested and listed for installation in residential and mobile homes by UL.

Important Safety Instructions:

Users must read and understand all instructions before using the heater. Basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. The heater is hot when in use, so bare skin should not touch hot surfaces. Combustible materials like furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains must be kept at least 3 feet away from the front, sides, and rear of the heater. Extreme caution is necessary when the heater is used by or near children or invalids, or when left operating unattended. The heater should always be unplugged when not in use. Do not operate the heater with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged in any manner; it should be returned to an authorized service facility for examination or repair. The heater is not for outdoor use or in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor locations where it could fall into water. The cord should not be run under carpeting or covered with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings, and should be arranged away from traffic areas to prevent tripping. To disconnect, turn controls to off, then remove the plug from the outlet. The heater must be connected only to properly grounded outlets. Foreign objects should not be inserted into any ventilation or exhaust opening to prevent electric shock, fire, or damage. Air intakes or exhaust should not be blocked to prevent fire, especially on soft surfaces like a bed. The heater contains hot and arcing or sparking parts and should not be used in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored. The heater should only be used as described in this manual; any other use may cause fire, electric shock, or injury. Heaters should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet/receptacle and never used with an extension cord or re-locatable power tap (outlet/power strip). This heater has a self-protection function; if it does not operate normally, check the cord and heater placement, then unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in to reset.

Grounding:

This heater is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a three-blade plug for proper grounding. Do not attempt to modify the plug or use adaptors to defeat the grounding feature. Plug only into a receptacle that accepts a three-blade plug.

Technical Specifications:

  • Electrical:
    • Voltage: 120V~60Hz
    • Power consumption: 1000-1500 Watts
    • Thermostat range: 50-90 Fahrenheit
  • Coverage: Up to 1,500 square feet
  • Dimensions: 25.2" Tall x 31.5" Wide x 11.5" Deep, 55 lbs
  • Safety Features: Overheat shut off
  • Features: Remote control, Vivid Log/Flame Effect, Eco Friendly Wood

Fireplace Placement Recommendations:

To achieve maximum efficiency, locate the heater close to an inside wall of the room, facing the exhaust vents toward cooler outside walls to distribute heat evenly. Ensure windows and doors are not allowing high airflow, which would minimize effectiveness. Maintain a minimum of 40% relative humidity in the heated environment for best results. The heater should be used in rooms insulated according to code, as non-insulated rooms will cause greater heat loss. Keep the area around the heater clear of clutter and obstacles for free airflow. Position the heater out of main traffic thoroughfares.

Fireplace Operation:

Plug the power cord into a 120V, 15amp or 20amp three-bladed receptacle.

  • To Turn On: Press the Power button on the control panel or remote control.
  • Default Set Temperature: The default set temperature when powered on is 72°F and cannot be changed.
  • Ambient Temperature: Press and hold the Temp up button for a few seconds to view the ambient room temperature. It will display briefly, then return to the desired set temperature.
  • Set Desired Temperature: Press the UP or DOWN button on the control panel or remote control. When the desired set temperature is reached, the heater will stop heating, but the fan will run for approximately 5 minutes (3 minutes when powered off) to cool the unit's chamber. The heater will cycle on again when the ambient temperature drops below the set desired temperature.
  • Set Heat Level: Press the H/L button on the control panel or remote control to switch between High and Low heat. The corresponding High (H) or Low (L) light will illuminate. High mode uses 1500 watts, while Low mode uses approximately 1000 watts. The fan speed does not change in High mode; rather, the heating elements allow for higher heat output.
  • Celsius and Fahrenheit: The heater displays temperature in Fahrenheit by default but can display it in Celsius. Press the Celsius/Fahrenheit button to switch between the two.
  • Set Flame Brightness: Use the Dimmer button on the control panel or remote control. Press once, and the brightness will start changing. Press again to set the desired level.

Troubleshooting:

  • Heater shuts off unexpectedly:
    1. Ensure the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    2. Check for obstructions. If found, turn the unit OFF, unplug it, wait 10 minutes for it to cool, remove the obstruction, then plug it back in and follow operation instructions.
  • Heater tips over:
    1. Set the unit upright, check for damage. If damaged, unplug and contact customer service.
    2. If no damage, push the power button to turn the unit back on.
  • Fireplace does not illuminate properly:
    1. Light bulbs may have vibrated loose and need tightening.
    2. Light bulbs may be damaged and need replacement.

Fireplace Maintenance:

WARNING: Disconnect power before attempting any maintenance or cleaning to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or damage.

  • Light Bulb Replacement:
    • Bulbs need replacement when a dark section of the flame appears or when the clarity and detail of the log exterior disappear. There are two bulbs under the log set.
    • WARNING: Allow at least 5 minutes for light bulbs to cool before touching them to avoid burns.
    • Bulb Requirements: Two clear chandelier or candelabra bulbs with an E-12 (small) socket base, rating voltage 120 volts, rating power 40 watts.
    • CAUTION: Do not exceed 40 watts per bulb.
    • Changing Light Bulbs:
      1. Unplug the unit.
      2. Open the light bulb area by holding the left and right sides of the cover at the bottom of the firebox and pulling straight out.
      3. Examine bulbs to determine which need replacement.
      4. Remove old bulb and replace with a new one, holding the socket while unscrewing or screwing.
      5. Replace the cover of the light bulbs.

It becomes valid at the time of purchase and terminates either by the specified time frame or owner transfer (unless authorized by LifeSmart). Any extended warranties sold through a retailer or third party are not directly correlated with this limited warranty and may be redirected to said retailer or third party for coverage.

Extent of Warranty:

This warranty extends through the manufacturer and covers functional parts only. Cosmetics are not covered unless unequivocally determined to be a manufacturer/workmanship defect. All exchanged parts and products replaced under this warranty become the property of LifeSmart. LifeSmart reserves the right to change manufacturers of replacement parts or products to cover any existing warranty. Defective parts may be requested to be returned to LifeSmart or its representatives to validate a claim. Non-warranty replacement parts are warranted for 30 days from receipt by the purchaser. The purchaser must present proof of purchase documents (including date of purchase) if requested. Any evidence of alteration, erasing, or forgery of proof of purchase documents will void this limited warranty. Products with defaced or removed serial numbers are not eligible for warranty coverage.

Warranty Limitations:

This warranty does not apply if the unit has been subject to negligence, fabrication, misuse, abuse, or repairs (unless authorized verbally or in writing by an Authorized LifeSmart Representative) alteration by non-LifeSmart authorized personnel, inappropriate installations, or any case beyond LifeSmart's control. Examples of warranty invalidation include, but are not limited to:
