Do you have a question about the lifeSMART HT1269 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the Lifesmart Infrared Quartz Heater, model HT1269, an indoor supplemental heating appliance designed to provide warmth and improve air quality.

Function Description

The Lifesmart Infrared Quartz Heater functions by heating objects, not air, making it different from traditional space heaters. It is intended to supplement an already heated, insulated room and is not designed to replace a main heat source or heat uninsulated spaces. The heater operates by drawing in ambient air, heating it using quartz heating elements, and then circulating the warmed air. It includes a fan that continues to run for up to 90 seconds after the heating elements turn off, to dispense residual heat and filter the air. The unit features an ECO mode designed for energy efficiency, which attempts to maintain a "warm" 68°F (20°C) by adjusting wattage based on room temperature.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Voltage Rating: 120 V (60 Hz)
  • Power Consumption: 1,000 W / 1,500 W (Heat-down / Heat-up modes)
  • Unit Size: 11.42 in. (W) x 13.58 in. (D) x 14.19 in. (H)
  • Unit Weight: 9.13 lbs.
  • Circuit Requirement: Must be plugged into a dedicated 120 V, 15 amp (or more) grounded, 3-prong circuit.
  • BTU Output:
    • 1,500 W: 5,118 BTUs
    • 1,000 W: 3,412 BTUs
    • 750 W: 2,559 BTUs
    • 500 W: 1,706 BTUs
  • Temperature Range: 50°F to 90°F (10°C to 32°C)
  • Safety Certifications: ETL listed, CSA, UL (for power cords up to 105°C/221°F)

Usage Features

The heater can be operated via a control panel on the unit or a remote control (two AAA batteries required, not included).

Control Panel and Remote Control Features:

  • Power Switch Button: Powers the heater ON or OFF.
  • Digital Display: Shows set room temperature or timer value.
  • Temperature Indicators: Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) indicator lights.
  • Power Indicator Light: Indicates when the unit is receiving power.
  • Ambient Temp. Button: Displays ambient temperature and toggles between °C/°F (hold for 5 seconds on control panel, short press on remote).
  • Temp-Up/Temp-Down Buttons: Increase or decrease the set temperature.
  • Timer Button: Engages the on/off timer function (0 to 12 hours in 1-hour intervals). The timer can be set to power off when the heater is on, or power on when the heater is off.
  • Heater Mode Button: Toggles between High, Low, and ECO modes.
    • High Heat: 1,500 W.
    • Low Heat: 1,000 W.
    • ECO Mode: Maintains 68°F (20°C) by adjusting wattage; increases to maximum wattage if temperature drops below 64.4°F (18°C), gradually reduces wattage as it approaches 66.2°F (19°C), and stops heating at 68°F (20°C). The Energy Saving Indicator illuminates when ECO mode is active and ambient temperature is below 68°F/20°C.
  • Safety Lock Button: Locks/unlocks the control panel (hold for 5 seconds on control panel, 3 seconds on remote). A buzzer rings and "CL" displays when locked.
  • Fan Indicator: Indicates when the fan is on.
  • High/Low Heat Indicators: Indicate active heat mode.

Safety Features:

  • Child Lock Safety Feature: Prevents accidental operation.
  • Tip-Over Safety Feature: Automatically shuts off the heater if it tips over. It resets when restored to an upright position.
  • Overheat Safety Feature: Automatically shuts off the heater if internal components reach a temperature that could cause overheating or fire.
  • Electrical Safety: Requires a dedicated 15-amp circuit. Do not use with extension cords, surge protectors, timers, direct breakers, or outlets with other appliances. The power cord is designed with a wide blade plug that must be fully inserted into the wide slot of the receptacle to prevent electrical shock.

Placement and Operation Notes:

  • Place the heater on a firm, level surface in an upright position.
  • Keep combustible materials at least 3 ft. (0.9 m) from the front, sides, and rear of the heater.
  • Allow at least 3 ft. of unobstructed space for maximum heat, air, and ventilation flow.
  • Infrared heaters may take up to 24 hours to warm a room completely, especially in larger or open floor plans.
  • The fan will continue to run for a short period after heating stops to dissipate residual heat and filter air.
  • A warm power cord is normal, but signs of heat or melting at the outlet indicate a problem requiring immediate discontinuation of use and professional inspection.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Turn off the power switch, unplug the unit, and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
    • Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary, then dry with a soft cloth.
    • DO NOT use alcohol, gasoline, abrasive powders, furniture polish, rough brushes, or immerse the heater in water.
    • Clean the air intake or inside the unit every three months, or if airflow appears blocked, using a vacuum hose attachment or compressed air to remove dirt, hair, or debris.
  • Storage:
    • Remove batteries from the remote control if storing for an extended period.
    • Store the heater in a cool, dry location, preferably in its original packaging to prevent dust and dirt buildup.
  • Battery Replacement (Remote Control):
    • Remove the battery cover by applying pressure and sliding it away.
    • Insert two new AAA batteries (not included).
    • Close the battery cover.
    • Do not mix old and new batteries, or alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (NiCad, ni-mh, etc.) batteries.
