Do you have a question about the Lift Tech Marine DC AUTO STOP GEN2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is an owner's manual for the DC Auto Stop Gen2 Winch Box, a marine lift control system manufactured by Lift Tech Marine. The system is designed to automate the stopping of a boat lift at user-defined upper and lower limits, preventing accidental overtravel and potential damage.

Function Description:

The DC Auto Stop Gen2 Winch Box is a control system for boat lifts that utilizes an auto-stop feature to prevent the lift from exceeding predefined upper and lower limits. This system is designed to work with DC motors and includes remote control capabilities, as well as smartphone app integration for both iOS and Android devices. The auto-stop function ensures that the lift stops automatically when it reaches the programmed limits, enhancing safety and preventing damage to the boat or the lift itself.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Requirements: The DC motors require 12 volts or 24 volts. For 24-volt systems, two 12-volt batteries must be wired in series. The manual recommends 24 or 27 series deep cycle batteries.
  • Remote Control: The system includes a remote control with UP and DN buttons for operation. The remote control can be locked to prevent accidental use.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: The system features Bluetooth for smartphone app integration, allowing users to control the lift and program settings from their mobile devices.
  • Auto Stop Limits: The auto-stop limits are programmable for both the upper and lower positions of the lift. Once programmed, the system remembers these limits, even if power is removed.
  • Canopy Light Control: The system supports an optional canopy light, which can be turned on and off via the control panel or remote. The light automatically shuts off after 7 minutes.
  • Pinch Point Warning: The winch box includes a warning about pinch points, indicating a safety consideration during operation.

Usage Features:

  • Auto Stop Programming:
    • To Set Top Travel Limit: Press the UP button on the remote until the lift moves to the desired upper limit. Then, press the LOCK button on the remote to define the upper position. A brighter green LED indicates a set position.
    • To Set Bottom Travel Limit: Press the DOWN button on the remote until the lift moves to the desired lower limit. Then, press the LOCK button on the remote to define the lower position. A brighter green LED indicates a set position.
    • To Reset Position Limits: Press LOCK, LOCK, LIGHT on the remote or control panel for 1-2 seconds. If successful, the green LED light will change from always on to a quick blink.
  • Control Panel Operation: The control panel has UP and DN buttons for operation. It also features a Bluetooth pairing sequence activated by pressing UP and DN simultaneously. The control panel's status light indicates its operational state (solid green for ready, blinking blue for Bluetooth active, solid blue for Bluetooth paired, solid red for push button pressed).
  • Remote Control Operation: The remote control works similarly to the control panel. If the control panel is locked, the remote will blink for a set amount of time and then stop. The Bluetooth app will still work when the control panel is locked.
  • Smartphone App Integration (iOS and Android):
    • Download: Search for "Lift Tech Marine" on Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS) and download the app.
    • Pairing:
      1. Activate Bluetooth pairing on the control panel by pressing UP and DN simultaneously.
      2. Open the app and press the scan button (Android) or tap "Lift Tech Marine" (iOS).
      3. Select the motor (identified by "Lift - Signal Strength" on Android or "Lift Tech Marine" on iOS).
      4. Once paired, the app will display control buttons for UP, DOWN, LIGHT, and LOCK.
    • Control: Use the app to raise (UP), lower (DOWN), turn the canopy light on/off (LIGHT), and lock/unlock the control panel (LOCK - hold for 5 seconds).
    • Rename Lift: The app allows users to rename their lift for easier identification, especially if multiple units are in proximity.
  • Off-Season Storage: To prevent condensation, the manual recommends covering the winch with a plastic bag and sealing it during off-season months.
  • Power Outage: In case of a power outage, the manual suggests using a back-up bit (inside the white floatie) on the end of the shaft with a drill to operate the winch. A video on how to do this is available on the website.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Maintenance: Motors are self-lubricating and do not require maintenance. Solar panels are recommended to evaporate water and check water levels in batteries to prevent damage and possible battery explosion. Users should charge control panels to prevent overcharging.
  • Battery Boxes: Optional plastic battery boxes are available for Group 24 and 27 series deep cycle batteries to protect them from battery acid leaks.
  • Charge Control Regulators: Optional charge control regulators are available to prevent batteries from being overcharged, which can lead to problems and battery explosion.
  • Troubleshooting Tips: If the lift will not operate or cannot pass a certain position, users are advised to try resetting the limits. Videos on troubleshooting are available on the Lift Tech Marine website.

Optional Accessories:

  • Pendant for AC and DC Manual Motors: A 15-foot wired pendant control for manual motors.
  • Canopy Light for AC/DC Remote and Autostop Motors: Five feet of Super Bright White LED Lights that automatically shut off after 7 minutes.
  • Plastic Battery Boxes for DC Units: Boxes to protect batteries from acid leaks.
  • Charge Control Regulators for DC Units: Regulators to prevent battery overcharging.
  • Nylon Storage Cover: Available for purchase to protect the motor from elements.

Warranty Information:

Lift Tech Marine warrants its motor from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase. The warranty is limited to the purchaser and is not transferable. Proof of purchase is required for warranty claims. Any modification to the motor or control box will void the warranty.
