Questions and Answers

Why are the measured values inaccurate with my Lika SMAX-BG Accessories?
    • C
      Chad FinleyAug 1, 2025
Inaccurate measured values with Lika Accessories can occur for several reasons. It could be that the gap between the sensor and the scale isn't consistent along the entire measuring length, or the sensor isn't properly installed on the scale. Another cause might be the connection cable running near high voltage cables or a poorly connected shield, so check the earthing point. Also, the frequency of the Master clock might be set too high or too low, disrupting synchronization, so check the “4 - SSI interface.” Furthermore, a section of the magnetic scale might be mechanically or magnetically damaged. Finally, the measuring error could be due to torsion in the machine structure; in this case, check parallelism and symmetry in the machine's movement.

What to do if Lika SMAX-BG Accessories system does not work (no pulse output)?
    • H
      Heather BarajasAug 16, 2025
If your Lika Accessories system isn't working and there's no pulse output, first, check if the scale and/or the sensor are installed properly, ensuring the active surface of the scale matches the sensor's sensitive part and that the sensor is correctly oriented. For correct installation please refer to the “3 Mounting instructions” section on page 9. Also, make sure there are only non-magnetic materials between the sensor and the scale. Verify that the installation complies with the tolerance gap between the sensor and the scale, and check the sensor's sensitive part for damage. The issue also can be caused by the sensor being damaged by short circuit or wrong connection.
